People who downgrade the Godfather are engaging in Teenybopper behavior

My lack of interest in the Godfather movies has zero to do with 'Tennybopper behavior' and just complete and total lack of interest in the genre.

This short attention span younger generation that is growing up now find it incredibly boring. 20 years from now only old timers will consider it great. Just like 'Gone With The Wind' for decades was considered THE GOAT and now is merely top 50.

Gone WIth The Wind is not that great of a movie. It was good for it's time but it has not aged well, unlike the Godfather.

Anybody who thinks Taxi Driver is overrated needs to check into an asylum.

I would have been to young to see Taxi Driver when it first came out. I suspect if i was of age i would have really thought it was excellent.

Saw it many years ago but didn't really thing it anything crazy special. I don't know if the hype colored my perception or expectations though. The "are you talking to me scene" truely is a classic imo.

Taxi Driver is the most underwhelming "classic" I've ever seen. Years ago, I vowed to watch a few classics that I hadn't previously seen; Dog Day, Chinatown, And Justice For All, and Taxi Driver. I was impressed by all of them, except for fuckin Taxi Driver. Overrated as FUCK movie!

"... And Justice For All" is not a classic film by any stretch of the imagination... It's not in the discussion... It is a 3 star type of film... Entertaining, decent, nothing more

"Taxi Driver" is an amazing film... A deep film...

It's a mediocre movie that would have been a POS if not Deniro being in his prime.

    uh, no

It is a stunning film with great direction and a great story based on Dostoyevsky

It was chosen for preservation by the Library Of Congress for it's artistic and cultural significance and was named on the AFI's 100 Greatest Films list ... so this is hardly a fringe opinion on my part

Whatever clever people mean when they call something a 'perfectly realized piece of work' I'm pretty sure it applies to Taxi Driver.

The status of this movie outstrips its artistic value.

The only two good acting performances are Duval and Cazale and the plot has two many holes in it, that, if it were any other movie, people would be slicing through it with a machete...

    A masterpiece-work-of-art?
    Not likely.

The same people who rave about The Godfather also rave about The Sopranos (another above-average series but a classic example of people buying into something because the media/culture effect has told them 'this is the way it is')
