Tarantino wrote it. He's overrated too IMO. After Pulp Fiction, he did some fun entertaining films but way over the top stuff.

I feel like imdb ratings used to be much more credible 5+ years ago. They're pretty worthless now.

I liked the original a LOT better than Redux. Redux is 50 minutes of worthless extra scenes that simply slow the pace and detract from the film.

I actually thought Robert Duvall's Kilgore character was over-the-top. Everyone seems to like him, I thought he was too-over-the-top with his surfing and "it smelled.....like victory" speech.

Didn't care that much for this movie.

Oliver Stone is full of it too. I recently read an interview where he crticized Breaking Bad because the finale was too violent, unrealistic, and over-the-top.

I repeat, OLIVER FREAKING STONE criticizing something for being unrealistic and over-the-top.

I promise u. If Taxi Driver came out tomorrow and none of u heard "how great" it is and just watched it you'd be like meh whatever kinda boring but since it got these rave reviews by people who supposedly know what's good and whats bad then all of a sudden u love it because u fear that if u dont u will be proclaimed stupid and that u dont like it because u simply dont get it. In the end u wanna be accepted and u praise this overrated borefest as something special. Well it is far from it. Good day.

You ever see the old 50s film "Invasion Of The Body Snatchers"? Good movie. Some poor kid named Tom Mapother was snatched back in 1979 or whatever and replaced with Cruise:mut:

agree... Duvall's character is just too ridiculous... Stone is absolutely full of it... I can only give the guy so many passes for his one home run ("Platoon", which I think is a masterpiece)

Yeah. This is retarded. Probably about as good a depiction of alienation as has ever been put on film... The film is a classic. I've never liked anything because a critic liked it or hated something because a critic hated it. The film isn't boring, it's not overrated. I think you're upset because Jodie Foster's character hit too close to home

You have to keep in mind that this film has been dissected and ripped off a gazillion times since its original release. I watched it when it came out in 1976 and blew me away. I had watched already 'Rocky' and loved it claiming 'Best-Picture-of-the-year!', but then after watching "Taxi Driver' I totally changed my opinion: 'Rocky' was typical feel good popcorn while 'Taxi Driver' was not only gritty, crude, realistic, brutal, painfully honest, but also avant garde, rebellious and anti-establishment. Old Hollywood crowd got repulsed by it and gave 'Rocky' the Best Picture Oscar, a fact that today is head scratching inducing. Scorcese paved the way for all the urban crime dramas and psychological character studies from "Pulp Fiction" to "Nightcrawler". If the plot doesn't impress you, at least Robert DeNiro's performance will. And if that still doesn't impress you, then you are a hopeless schmuck.

 In fact I do! I have rented houses and one apartment which generate enough dough to pay my new house mortgage and put some money in the bank. I am humble: I only have two cars. But I am NOT my own promoter.

Dear White People...mildly funny when you watch the trailer, but way too pretentious to be entertaining. I dunno what those raving reviews were about.

I'd probably be considered an librul commie in some parts of the U.S. but based on that trailer I have no interested in seeing it either. Looks like a left wing political film disguised as a comedy.

    "Pretentious?" No.

I watched it. It tried too hard to be an intelligent, sophisticated, funny commentary on modern society's racial views among college people. A wannabe contemporary "Do The Right Thing" that fails miserably.
