Only other fighters to have won FIGHTER of the Year 3 times:

    Ali, Frazier, Ray Leonard, Holyfield

Roach has won Trainer of the Year award for a RECORD fourth time and second year in a row.

    Not too shaby...

How can Floyd win fighter of the year? He doesn't even fight real welterweights at welterweight. He makes them come up from their best weightclasses to meet him. F*cking joke!

Yeah I forgot about that, what bills? All his shit is paid for, ALL OF IT, ya heard? You don't know boxing.

Floyd is just gonna do himself, all his shit paid for, and the only reason he didn't fight Cotto is because Cotto lives in Puerto Rico. You don't know boxing.

Oh and the funny thing is, it kind of transpired that um, most of Floyd's stuff isn't paid for, and he owes money on lots of things

Legacy don't pay the bills though, you don't know boxing.

Props to Manny, well deserved it.

Hopefully he'll fight Floyd though, to see who's actually better.

This is such a silly statement. Boxing is not analogous to football in almost any way I can think of except "they are both sports". In football, there is a national league running everything, with uniform rules for all games regardless of playing location. Players are employees of the various teams they play for, and are bound by contract to play the way the NFL dictates, or not at all. They have no choice in the matter of who they play (and oh by the way, if they did, I think EXACTLY what you stated and worse would happen).

Boxing has NO national ruling commission, and it's participants are permanent free agents who can accept or decline any fight they want. They are employed by no one. Rules of fights can be different from one town to the next, one state to the next, one country to the next. It's literally an "every man for himself" situation. Fighters don't agree to any pre-arranged schedule, or get benefits from their employer, or have the knowledge that some "team" will help them get healthy when they are injured and keep paying them until they do recover. In boxing, if you get hurt, you don't get paid, so obviously that aspect would instill more scrutiny into what fights a fighter agrees to.

Also do you realize how serious the NFL takes PED testing compared to boxing? They randomly test players EVERY WEEK. RANDOM. They even test in the fucking offseason, for god's sake. They also do what the Olympics do and keep samples for some time after testing clear to then LATER test for drugs they didn't know about at the time. Plus, why would any player disagree with the testing policy, or ask the NFL to do more stringent tests... when the players union fucking votes on the policy??? They have to endorse it in the first place, so they have a say. What say do boxers like Mayweather or Tyson or Tommy Hearns have in how their opponents are tested?

What you posted was as dumb as me saying "Peyton Manning is a great athlete cuz he's never been knocked out when hit in the head but lots of boxers have!" Uh.. that's because he wears a HELMET, see? Because football is a DIFFERENT SPORT, see? Regardless I am sure some here will find your post brilliant.

For the record, Manny deserves all the awards he has won, and he is by far the most exciting fighter in boxing right now. Yeah, he is probably a cheat, but until that is proven you can't deny the guy due credit for his unbelievable run. He is definitely one of the best fighters I have ever seen fight.

I'd give Pacman "The Fighter of the decade"..but only because of his meteoric rise in the middle of the deacde and the unbelievable acchievenet he's had since coming out of nowhere to beat Ledwaba. He's generated tysonesque excitement in the last 7 years and as such I'd give it to him.

    "However" (Copywright Musze, 2006)

Truthfully Floyd Mayweather Jnr should be considered the fighter of the decade.

    Why?

HE WAS NEVER BEATEN in that decade!!! Pacquaio can't say that.

But Calzaghe didn't win titles in Multiple divisions...and only in the last couple years fought the Hopkins' and Jones' of the world. Mayweather was fighting big names from jump street.

Mayweather has the better resume, no doubt. I was just countering this whole idea that Floyd deserves Fighter of the Decade because he's undefeated. Pacquiao deserved the award by a lot.

yeah but...it not JUST because he's undefeated.

He's achieved as much as Pacquiao PLUS is undefeated.

Pacquiao wins merely because of the nature of his meteoric rise and the excitement he has generated.
