I agree. I'm glad it sounds like Cotto stuck to that.

I don't really think catch-weights should be title fights.

    They're almost asterisk fights, IMO.

Cotto will beat Manny brutally. Too big and strong.

In fact you even went as far as to say Pacman had almost no chance, that Hatton was too big and strong, and has the style to beat him.

The fact is - Pacman is simply a better fighter than Cotto, and he's freakishly effective at higher weights, therefore Pacman is going to win.

Cotto should be too big and too strong. He really should be- dayum: this guys is arguably the best WW in the world and a top ten p4p fighter. Yet he is an underdog here. :notallthere:

Incredible, really. Pac will win and probably by KO as Cotto fades late. In my heart I know this to be the case and yet I'll watch it happen and sit shaking my head in wonder.

Anything between 141-147 is a welterweight fight.

Technically, either fighter can weigh between 141-147 for a welterweight fight, you're right about that. When one of the fighters explicitely ask for a limit under the WW limit, let's say 145, you can call it welterweight if you want, but I'd rather call it catch weight. A champ defending his 147 belt is supposed to be allowed to weigh anywhere between 141-147. Just because the 145 limit happens to be between the bounds doesn't make it a legitimate WW championship fight. That's my take.

Why didn't Cotto say from the beginning that he wanted a non-title fight? I don't really get why he's trying to pull this now.

    Manny wanted 143-144.
Cotto said no and asked for 145
    Manny accepts
Cotto doesn't want his belt on the line.

    Something is wrong here.

I'll watch the fight either way, but it's better off being billed as a title fight.

I agree with you. It should be a title fight. It will look good on Cotto's resume "Title defense KO win over then P4P king Manny Pacquiao"

I'm gonna go with you on this one as well. I feel that many are under estimating Cotto's skills. Cotto hasn't earned the shit he's earned by not having skills. I'll Holla 5000

I thought DLH would beat Pacquiao and that Diaz and Hatton would at least put up competitive fights.

One of these days I'll be right. Cotto may not win but he will give Pacquiao a very good fight.

It'll be interesting how Pacquioa can go as a welterweight,.. something important as far as gigantic heavyweights are concerned is the power of thier tickers, the rate blood and oxgen can be transfered around thier huge bodies,.. it's what allows fighters like the Klitschko's and Lennox Lewis to move around like normal sized fighters and retain immense power relative to thier size,.. Pacquioa might have the heart of a horse himself, and if that's the case who knows how far he can move up and retain the same speed and power.

All I know is that Pac-man ain't fighting against the limited fighter in Hatton nor is he fighting against the skeleton of DLH. He will be fighting a legit welterweight that will bring his "A" game. I'll Holla 5000

I get why he's saying it. For one he doesn't want to pay his 150,000 dollar sanctioning fee and has already stated he'd vacate before doing so (don't blame him). Secondly if Pacquaio wants a 147lb belt then he should be fighting at 147lbs instead of wasting weeks negotiating catch-weights. Hell, neither camp has yet to sign a contract for this fight. Pacquaio can't have his cake and eat it too.

Unfortunately he probably will though. They say even if Cotto vacates that Pacquaio will still get Cotto's WBO belt & credit for his 7th title in 7 different divisions if he wins. All this makes me mad enough that I'm now going to be pulling for a Cotto win. I don't like Manny's stance at all here.

I agree about the belt and Pacquiao. It's bullshit!

Especially when he already fought Oscar at 147, If Pacquiao never fought at 147 I wouldn't expect him to. But the fact that he did and all of a sudden he can't go back up to 147 for Cotto than he shouldn't fight for the belt.

The WBO is such bullshit in this case. They just want that sanctioning fee. I never heard of a case where the champ vacates and the oponent coming up in weight can still fight for it.

Pacquiao is not even ranked among the welterweights.

Everything seems on a silver platter for Pacquiao. Cotto might have to win by KO or lose.

Seems like Pacquiao is holding out for the belt... And Roach has the nerve to say the belt isn't important...

You want to be a champ at 147, well let the champ you have to defeat fight at 147. I hate when a star tries to bend the rules in his advantage because he generates money. I like the pride Cotto is showing.

Agreed! Cotto aint going to fold here. He said he's willing to give up his belt. If Pac want the belt to be on the line then it has to be 147 or nothing!

If Pac feels he's #1 P4P then he really needs to stop with these bullshit requests.! Now Tea Pac want Cotto to drop to 143 after the fight has already been signed! WTF!

if the two pounds mean shit than Pacquiao could easly move up also correct?

He did it for Oscar but not for Cotto. Simply because there is a difference in Cotto moving down' two pounds.

Maybe Cotto should drop to 140 and still put his 147 belt on the line.

seriously man! if this was DLH pulling this crap he would shit for it. But somehow pacquiao gets a pass?

Funny how roach said he didn't care if Cotto was 200 pounds that Manny would still beat his ass. yet they cried for every pound he was gonnna drop even after they agreed to 145 they tried to bring him down more.

Roach also said belts are overrated and at the same time said he did not want the fight without the belt.

fucking make up your mind! :dunno:
