Having Mosley beat Pac is not good for anything.

    Agreed!

    Why? because Pacquiao raped Cotto?

    It's good for Mosley.

No...best case scenario for FloydIdiots...Floyd gets jail time, Mosley wins. Shuts up PacMorons who said he ducked Floyd...gives FloydIdiots cause to say wasn't a need for pac-floyd.

All is well in the world.

No, because Mosley is a great fighter/Person. I'm a fan.

    WAR MOSLEY!

I'm amazed at how often the line seems to move in this debate, and how much is left out when attempting to sell a particular angle.

The thing is, Berto came in with a lower guarantee and smaller percentage of the upside.

If Arum's insistence of what Marquez demanded is accurate, then it's understandable why he'd pass (although I don't believe him). The idea obviously is to make as much money as possible for Pacquiao and Top Rank.

But in that vain, I don't see Mosley - at near 40 and winless in more than two yrs - being that much bigger of a draw in 2011, which means TR would actually stand to make more in a Pacquiao-Berto fight.

I also don't buy the "Berto is anonymous" angle. If Shane and Margarito are that well-known among the boxing public, then those same people would be well aware of what they have - or haven't - accomplished in recent years.

Bottom line being, if TR can find a way to sell those fights, certainly they can find a way to market a Pac fight against an undefeated welterweight titlist with a noted amateur career and currently in his prime.

come on jake...you know it's more about sticking it to Golden Snaggle Tooth Promotions.

Did you just say 24/7 makes Berto a big star?

Oh I know. I just find it funny that everyone is quoting Arum and running stories based on his claims, when in fact everyone knows the truth. In some cases, people are quoting Arum and reporting in one piece, yet blogging their thoughts in another.

    Yep, beyond absurd isn't it?

That's now the benchmark when looking as resume's, whether guy is coming off a KO win.

Level of opposition/losses etc doesn't count, just coming off a KO win is what counts

i bet Pac has a worm and shanes black snake would nuzzle it's way into Pac's dirty love cave

This is the ONLY problem I have with RJP4P. Be consistent with your arguments and don't just search for reasons to minimize a guys career because you prefer another fighter.

There's many reasons to dislike Pac. Level of opposition is not one.

Other than PED speculation i don't know what those reasons could be.

Refusal to be tested for the first Floyd fight.

Lame excuses for such rather than outright refusal based on clean record.

    Catchweights for every recent fight.

Racking up titles on catchweight fights.

Fighting Shane rather than an up and comer.

All of the above is nitpicking but are all more valid reasons than level of opposition.

I'm not a fan of catchweight fights either but i don't think it has made a difference in any of the fights other than the De La Hoya one.

I'm against the Mosley fight as is everybody else but Pac could pick a lot worse opponent for a "soft touch". Other than Berto however there's not too many other guys i'd rather see him fight. (other than Floyd obviously)

In regards to Shane: Is he still 'slightly past prime' or definitely shot now that it's Pac fighting him?

I think that given the consistency with which Pacquiao has demanded catch-weights, whether you think it's made a difference in any of his fights or not, it's clear that he and/or his camp perceive it as a necessary advantage.

he's not completely shot, but he sure cant pull the trigger like he could 10 years ago

who else thinks Shane should have his pamona black snake seek and enter the filipino smelly love cave and shoot it's life creating white venom inside!?

Personally I think he's beyond shot. It was quite visible in the Mora fight when he not only couldn't pull the trigger but couldn't even load the pistol. Margarito would beat him at this point, hell even Cintron could beat this version of Shane he's completely and utterly done.

mosley wouldve looked like shit against moras style 5 or 6 years ago. margarito and cintron fight nothing like mora.

  26. Hex-One

    Hex-One "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Anyone here who dosent give Mosley a shot is a moron! Hasn't the History of boxing showed you something? Mosley has a Great chin followed by good hand speed. He also has a great corner to devise a good fight plan. He has a chance END OF STORY! If slow ass Margarito was able to land his shots and hurt Pac, so can Mosley!

  27. Mitchell Kane

Mitchell Kane WBC Silver Diamond Emeritus Champ

I understand what you're saying in the first part, but Margarito's style doesn't lend itself to be compared with Mosley's.

But the best thing the fight has going for it are low expectations.

I personally think Shane is finished as a top tier fighter and has been for some time. I said he was borderline shot when FM chose to fight him, so it follows that he is still borderline shot now.

He is totally shot. but it took PBF to demonstrate to the world just how shot he is. And before the world and their dog pile in here, let me clarify this- that is not a slight on Mayweather Jr, it is a compliment. Only a top, top drawer fighter can expose the weaknessess of a man like that.
