Hes had JMM hurt and down 3 times and didn't finish him. He finished Hatton but Hatton sucks and is no where near Cottos level.
He couldn't finish JMM because JMM is a P4P elite fighter with the heart of a lion and a will to win that is unmatched in the game right now as far as I'm concerned.
Exactly, his heart and ability to overcome shaky moments can't be questioned. Manny is not a skillless bum like Ricardo Torres for example. Cotto better not get on queer street against Manny. :nono: That being said, Manny doesn't pack Torres punch at the weight, i guess...
Umm... who the hell has Ricardo Torres ever KO'd? He couldnt even stop Aranaoutis. I'd say Manny is EASILY a better puncher than shitty Torres.
If he does,.. then I'll become a 'believer' ... but I have a feeling Hatton was damaged goods, who could never properly see a southpaw left hand,.. Cotto is a different specie, stronger, fresher, hits much harder, more accurate, skillful, switch hitter,... just overall much better and larger/thicker too.. and if he does sink a deep one into Manny's ribs,.. I dont think Pac will take it very well... but we'll see, I hope.
I agree that Cotto is better than Hatton in all those areas, but I still think he's too hittable to beat Manny. Plus I have a hunch than the Marg fight DID take something outta him. Pac by late TKO is my pick... Cotto is alot more durable than the Get Hitman.
Cotto has a very quick and good straight, he also has a very hard jab and can bang the body like the best of them, I wonder how Manny will react to these punches. He wasn't punched by DLH and Hatton, I think Cotto will be able to catch him, at least a few times. Cotto has to work on defense against the southpaw hook, I think he'll do his homeworks though, the only question is what will be the results? I think Cotto can handle Manny's straight left. I'm convinced Manny will be the favourite but if that's a case, I think Cotto will be one of the best underdogs to bet on.
I agree, dont' know what the odds will be but I slightly favor Manny but definitely wouln't be surprised if Cotto knocked Manny out. I'm pretty sure this fight doesn't go the distance though.
Damn, I can't believe it! the first time I agree 100% with Cow! You fools think Pacquiao is indestructible and that Cotto is damaged goods.:boohoo:We'll see what your reactions will be when Cotto outboxes and then stops Pacman with brutal body shots.:crafty: We'll see...
What I really noticed from last weeks fights is Cotto is physically STRONG. He's got to find some way to use that to his advantage because thats all he has over Pac aside from the bodywork which he doesnt seem able to use effectlively against top competition.
It will be funny if we see Cotto getting on his bike (like he did against Mosley and Clottey) against the much smaller Pacquaio which is a good likelihood of happening. That being said, Cotto has a great chance here especially if he gets to Manny's body. Problem is, Manny will not be right in front of him like Clottey and Mosley were.
Manny Pacquiao will always give these big guy problems because he still fights like he's still a flyweight.I think Cottos going to have problems.

Cotto has looked slower and slower seemingly in every subsequent fight he has had. He used to have reasonably quick hands. Lately, his hand-speed seems to be a on par with that of a late-career Chavez. And don't think Pacquiao's south-paw stance alone won't give Cotto problems let alone all of his other assets and stylistic abnormalities. Morales, for example, simply couldn't deal with Pacquiao's south-paw style. Even in his victory over him he was beaten up pretty badly. And unlike Morales, ODH and even Hatton, Cotto needs to be set to punch which will make him a sitting duck for Pacquiao's darting offense and will allow Pacquiao to be very elusive. I think more than anything the mental frustration Cotto will suffer will lead to his losing when he can't find Pacquiao and finds himself continually hit by Pac.
I thought Pac was getting overhyped after the Hatton fight. Now, here I am saying I think Pac KO's Cotto. Cotto's prime is gone, and he's declining at a rapid pace. The Margarito and Clottey fights softened him up and I think Pac will have an easy time with him that will lead to even bigger Pacmania then ever imaginable. Remember, Pac is the Latino killer.
Why all the hate for Cotto ?? He came back after that Brutal Margairto fight and took a tough fight like Clottey. Now Pac has a set of balls on him but so has Cotto. I like both and think both are at their peak. If Manny KO's Cotto in a similar fashion to Hatton - that would be truly amazing. Manny the best fighter of his generation ?
I don't see anyone hating Cotto. It just seems everyone is coming to the same conclusion that he has taken a good deal of punishment in his last few fights and likewise appears to be on the decline. Pacman on the other hand is looking better than ever lately and when you put those 2 points together, it's no wonder most are picking the Pacman. I don't think anyone here is looking forward to the demise of Cotto, it's just what appears to be inevitable.
I guess I dont see the "decline" as clear as most. He took a beating from the cheating grease ball and has had two fights since Jennings and Clottey ? The Jennings fight was a walk over, the Clottey fight it was hard to tell as the cut really changed the fight. Nobody thought that fight would go the distance after seeing the blood flow so early.
Neither do I, it's more perception than anything. I don't think any version of Cotto beats Clottey any easier than he did this week, Clottey's a tough guy.
Clottey is one tough SOB and the type of fighter that makes if difficult to look good against. I was hoping for a better fight, the cut changed everything. Before the fight I was thinking a close bout. After the fight I was thinking a healthy Cotto taking the fight to Clottey wins - and with gas left in the tank.
thought it was an excellent fight, enjoyed it allot. And as I said, Cotto didn't look diminished one iota. Same old Cotto in every respect to my eyes.
He may not have looked diminished (to you), but there is no disputing that he's taken 3 pretty huge beatings lately. The Mosley fight, and especially the Margarito, and Clottey fights. Also Cotto may have pulled out the win but Clottey didn't seem to take nearly the damage in that fight as Cotto did. I didn't totally see any decline of Cotto myself, but thinking of how easily he is to hit I think Manny will be able to capitalize and win.
