The fuck out of here...Pryor by TKO 8 rounds....Pac likes setting a fast pace....Pryor can set a faster one...
pacquiao would have the edge if he faced pryor around the time he was heavy into perico and billy joe bob whats his name made him quit
"No Fear" my ass! Pac is supposedly scared of needles. I can ASSURE you, Aaron Pryor feared no needles........
Fair point :: Only one flaw in your argument though, wasn't Pryor a crackhead? He may well have been scared of needles too hno:
If a dude like Pryor were roaming around at 140 a few years ago, Pac would have stayed put at the 130-135 range
Anybody Picking Pacquiao is HOPING he'd Win...Fact is, Manny NEVER Fought a Guy that Set a FASTER Pace than he Did...Pryor was THAT Guy Though... REED Just CAN'T Envision Aaron Pryor Losing to a SMALLER Guy... REED:nono:
I think Pacquiao has now become underrated on Fightbeat, now that he's past prime and the massive Pacquiao hype storm has subsided. Pacquiao at his best is one of the best fighters I've ever seen, and a better, more proven fighter than Pryor. I would pick Pacquiao without a doubt. Duran or Whitaker at 135 is another matter, but I would be fairly confident picking him over an aggressive guy he could hit easily, was significantly faster than, and more accurate.
Pacquiao was JUICED UP @ 40 & Above, Brother Mex... The Pryor that Beat Cervantes & Arguello 2wice WORKS Pacquiao...Again, SIZE MATTERS, Bro...& You're Underestimating Just How ATHLETIC Pryor Was...Sure, he was MANIC, but Dude Had VERY Good Hand-Foot Speed...Pac Most Certainly WAS NOT "Significantly" Faster than Aaron Pryor... You Noted Duran '35...There's a REASON Duran Failed to Face Pryor @ '35 & BYPASSED '40 Altogether...Not Saying Duran was Scared (He Wasn't), but Pryor was HIGH Risk, LOW Reward...In Other Words, he was a Legitimate THREAT to Duran, MORE of a Threat than You're Giving him Credit for Being... REED:hammert:
REED Would Actually AGREE w/Pac Being 1 of THE Best Ever... But there's Simply NO WAY his PED Use @ Higher Weights Can Be Neglected Either...Make No Mistake, Aaron Pryor was Better than ANYBODY Pac Beat, '40 & Above... REED:hammert:
Why? At his best, he's like no other fighter I've ever seen. Zipping around the ring throwing shit loads of punches from weird angles, very unpredictable, very fast, powerful, good stamina, good chin. He's an amazing fighter really. And just look at what he's accomplished as a former flyweight. A former flyweight, a guy who has the frame of a featherweight, slapping the shit out of welters. "Like I said before", that's unprecedented in boxing history, a former flyweight slapping the shit out of good welterweights. It's not a stretch at all to say he's one of the best fighters I've ever seen, he simply is. REED knows the score.
havent you heard, pacquiao is this slick guy who couldve been able to stick, move and befuddle that plodder chavez?
Maybe he was, but maybe Pryor was too with his special bottle ;) I agree Pryor was pretty quick himself, of hand and foot, but not Pacquiao fast. I think saying Pacquiao is significantly faster is fair, at his peak at 140 and 147 he looked ridiculously fast, especially compared to bigger opponents. As you've noted before REED, one of the scary things at the time was he seemed to carry all his speed with him at the higher weights, AND power. And about size matters - the funny thing is that doesn't seem to be the case with Pacquiao. He moved up and started to have a field day with bigger fighters, and it was STILL Marquez who troubled him more than any other fighter, and indeed KHTFO ::
Pac did have faster hands than Pryor. He still wouldn't be to handle Pryor's pace though. Not all fight long. Pryor didn't apply straight like pressure like Hatton, and Cotto. He came at you from literally EVERY angle. And, Pryor was FREAKISHLY strong (crack head strength ). He'd physically man handle Manny.
Based on what? :: Prime Manny had an amazing pace, great stamina, and a fuck load of fighting spirit. He could dish out the punishment with the best of them. I don't see Pryor overwhelming a guy with faster hands and the dynamic offense Pacquiao has. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Pryor was a scrub, he's a beast in his own right. I just don't think he's as good as Pacquiao, or has the style to beat him.
