That statement was true, but in context.

The Hatton - Tszyu fight was a dirty fight, sure, but BOTH men were engaging in it and IMO these things are part and parcel of the fight game. Anyone who's ever laced 'em up knows that clinches/butting/low shots etc are integral parts of boxing- like it or not.

My complaint with Cortez is not that he allowed Floyd to get away with dirty, roughouse stuff (which, to be honest, I didn't see a hell of a lot off and even Hatton himself said 'it's no tickling contest'), it's that he ran between and split the fighters EVERY SINGLE TIME they got within half an arms length of one another. Which is crazy, bad refereeing. Boxers should be allowed, at least in part, to work inside.

As to Paulie; he is a live threat to Hatton, no doubt, but he only beats Hatton if the Floyd fight was a show of genuine decline on Hatton's part and not just proof positive that Hatton is not world class at 147. Hatton does not gas late on at 140 anywhere near as readily as he does at 140, and his chin is much better. I'll say it again- Floyd may have shown the blueprint of how to beat Ricky, but he only carried it off because he had the tools. Do either Witter or Malignaggi? :dunno:

Knowing how to do something and actually being able to do it are two different things entirely.

The best Hatton beats the best Malignaggi IMO.

Great mention about the ref in the Tszyu fight.
Paulie just didn't start this after Hatton lost, he has been doing this for a couple of years now.
Looks the fight will happen at the Garden next year providing they both win their next fights.
Regarding the Cotto fight, in all honesty Miguel probably had at least 12-14 pounds on the kid in the ring that night, not that the result would have been different if they were both the same weight though, but it would have been more competitive.

interesting note: a teenaged malignaggi was in attendence as a fan at madison square garden on the night of hamed-kelley, where hatton made his US debut.

i must disagree. he looked spent in the n'dou fight in the 2nd half. had nothing to keep n'dou at bay and was just trying to stay away, falling on the big lead he had built up. but n'dou was just following him around the ring with no idea on how to cut the ring, hatton has much quicker feet than the african-australian and knows how to cut the ring also.

    I haven't seen any Hatton that wouldn't.

Yeah, Malignaggi moves a lot but he tends to set his feet and get stationary when he punches...and his movement can go from side to side to backwards when he gets tired (and he does get tired, and unlike some fighters that can bluff their way through fatigue...Malignaggi doesn't have much to keep his opponents' respect as an already light-puncher who tends to let his hands drop and throw more with his arms later in fights).

It is unknown how Hatton will look after the KO loss, but I'd take Hatton at his best against Malignaggi.

I also don't think the Ngoudjo fight is quite the cakewalk some people seem to consider it.

But he's alsoing shit about how Hatton shouldn't run away to the UK. hatton is still the man at 140 - if Paulie thinks he can beat him, he ought to travel to do so.

Plus, he'll get the opportunity to fight in front of 40-50,000 rabid british fans in a great atmosphere - a memory he'll keep forever.

Now Paulie is the second best fighter on the card. :crafty:

Gamboa will fight Freddie Norwood on the undercard.

SOB are they moving him fast!

I can't think of any other fighter who has been moved along like this? He turned pro at the end of April of this year.

A tune-up for WHAT? He dont want it with Witter, he'll never get a Floyd rematch(nor does he want or deserve one) unless its a tune-up for him to move up to 150 and get his ass kicked by the Golden Cross Dresser.

I disagree, was a boring ass fight. But I thought Malignaggi looked strong (not power wise) the whole fight.

He damn sure is. His latest interview on BT had me cracking up. He also exposed Billy Graham basically telling Hatton in the corner between rounds 5 & 6 to hold Floyd to nullify him. This is pretty much proof that part of Hatton's strategy is clinching.

BTW- Paulie said point blank this time that he thinks Floyd is the best fighter ever.

what's up w/ the recent malignaggi nuthugging? what credible opponent has malignaggi beaten to earn him a shot at hatton?

on top of that, he's boring as fuck. i can care less about his personality.

none...but Malignaggi might win a few rounds to win a decision or make the fight close...but at the end all cards read 120-109 x3 Hatton...so MAYBE....

    That's the N'Dou fight, which I haven't seen.

However, I've seen quite a few of his other all the way up to Cherry and he has always remained quite consistent throughout 10 rounds (12 vs. Cotto).

Maybe the Cotto fight has taken something out of him, though he looked fine vs. Edner.

I think N'Dou was his second 12-rounder after Cotto, and Lovemore does apply alot of pressure....so that could be the difference.

The Ngoudjo fight will tell us much, then. I expect he will get more used to the 12-round distance.

    Peace.
