BULLSHIT!!!:shit:... PRIOR to the Leites-Silva Fight, it was ALREADY EXPECTED that Silva's NEXT Fight would B Against Chuck Liddell...But Liddell LOST to Shogun on the Same Card...@ the END of this Article, White Certainly DOESN'T SHY AWAY from the Idea of Silva CAMPAIGNING @ 205 Anyways... http://sports.yahoo.com/mma/news?slug=ki-silva041909&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Or How Bout this Next Link... http://promma.info/index.php/2009/04/22/dana-white-calls-anderson-silva-a-shell-of-what-he-once-was/ UFC President Dana White has called the UFC 97 main event title fight between Silva and Leites “an embarrassment†and in a new interview with Inside Fighting, he called Silva “a former shell of himself.†Here is some of what the UFC President had to say regarding not only how Silva looked at UFC 97 but his future plans for the Champ: “When he puts you in that clinch he starts hitting you with so many knees you are praying for an elbow or a fist. When you really look at this thing and break it down he’s a crazy talented guy. He’s the Andy Warhol of mixed martial arts. He’s a artist but he hasn’t been his last two fights. He’s a f_cking shell of what he once was and its not because he’s old or broken down or anything. Now, I’m going to push Anderson. I’m going to put Anderson in fights with guys who are not afraid of him, the guys that are going to f_cking come after him….we’re going to make Anderson fight again.†At the UFC 97 post-fight press conference, White stated there are plenty of fighters in the light heavyweight division who will come at Silva and make it a fight if that is what he needs for motivation. There has also been talk of Wanderlei Silva possibly moving to middleweight to fight the Champ. That is definitely one person that will not drop to his back when the Champ gets within striking distance. Please STOP SHILLING for UFC Or @ Least ADMIT that U're IN Their POCKETS, Dude...CLEARLY, Silva @ 205 was UFC's Idea, NOT Silva's... REED:shit:
Reed I understand what you are saying, and by looking at the links and the article, its easy to see it your way, however, its not the case. Dana white is a person that you contantly have to prove something to. Anderson Silva has been wanting to move up to 205 since before he came to UFC. Silva is constantly looking to test himself. He has been asking to compete at 205, but Dana would not get it done. Finallty after two boring performance (which i think silva did purposely) Dana had enough and said fine we will test you. Dana is saying he is going to give Silva a test, but thats because Silva has been demanding it for so long. It was almost like a "YOU WANT IT? YOU GOT IT" type deal. I mean Silva is also talking about moving up to heavy to fight Frank Mir. Silva is the one that doesnt want to sit still.
It was Silva's idea, and his choice to fight at 205. Here's a link for ya... http://www.mmaweekly.com/absolutenm/templates/dailynews.asp?articleid=6631&zoneid=13 It clearly states White 'gave his blessing' for Silva at 205. He didn't ask. He didn't suggest. He didn't force. He agreed. He states clearly that Silva 'wants to fight at 205' and wants to 'hold both the 185 and 205 pound belt'. Sorry Reed, but stating facts is in no way being a 'shill'. It just seems some of you guys have such a hard on to criticize Dana White, you don't let facts get in the way of your assumptions. TFK
Silva's testing himself so much that he's staying at 185.:shit::shit::shit: He's already had two fights at 205, why not continue?
And those 2 fights meant jack shit. He needs to go for the big dogs at 205 if he really wants to make a statement. Thats what im hoping for.
Didn't see it yet but Penn is the man at 155 and unlike GSP he has the balls to step up and fight bigger guys ...:crafty:
there has never been a more UN-TRUE statement. 155 is deep. It is a true testament to how dominant BJ is. Kenny Florian is great. Tyson Griffin is very good. Gray Maynard is the best wrestling LW in the world. Diego Sanchez has to be one of the strongest 155 fighters in the world. Frankie Edgar is a Machine. BJ Penn is the most dominant champion in MMA today. As an RJJ fan, I would think you would realize this more than anyone. Just like everyone said of RJJ's division being weak and so on just because Roy disposed of them so easily. Don't get me wrong, I would love to see the UFC really recruit hard over in Japan. I would love to see Penn fight Kid Yamamoto(I know he generally fights at 145), Aoki, Alvarez. Hopefully they will.
Great performance by Penn--the exact type of performance that gets someone overrated. His defense is awesome. Very similar to the Sherk fight and even more dominant. "YES!!!" Diego is such a nob. I'll make growly-face at opponent to psyche him out. "YES!!!" I'd like to see Penn cut down to 145 to fight Aldo and then move back up again.
Penn destroyed Sanchez. I thought it would have been closer than that. Diego looks like a guy who hasn't been laid in a looooonnnggg time.
I'm pretty sure people can stop questioning BJ's cardio now. The guy can fight 5 rounds hard at 155, I have no doubt. He looked ready to kill at the start of the 5th. BJ is no doubt head and shoulders above anyone at 155. There is really only a few guys left out there for him, and most of them aren't in the UFC. Aoki and Alverez need to some to the UFC. Other than that there is Maynard who will have to redeem himself against Diaz in his next fight. There is no guarantee he even wins that fight.
alvarez worries with me with his suspect chin, but he has a crazy recoop though. it would be a fuckin firefight though. godamn
I have somewhat wondered myself, especially how he likes to fight in orgs like Dream and Bellator. Not the most stringent drug policies, ya know?::
