No. If it was all about minimalist bullshit, we would have tens of Eastwoods. It is not like Dirty Harry had the best script ever for an action movie. His characters have more similarities than many other big names, but few actors have the charisma and ability to express strong emotions that Clint can. Certainly no bad actor can do it

 

I may be in the minority here. I actually appreciate his "Understated Minimalist" acting technique.

On the directing front however, I think he's generally over-rated. Sure, he's got some classics, but I think many of his films are rushed and lack any sort of atmosphere.

It may be the reason he is so prolific as a director in his later years, but a lot of his movies are throwaways or just completely over-rated, due to his "Understated Minimalist" directing technique.

 

I don't see how the characters in "The Beguiled" or "Play Misty For Me" or "Bridges Of Madison County" or "Tightrope" are at all like Dirty Harry or The Man With No Name

No. In fact, one of my best friends was a huge Matrix fan. He made me watch it. I pointed out how bad Keanu was and he never watched them again. IN FACT, HE is hesitant to recommend anything lest I "Keanu" it.

And No. I cannot get through a single Nick Coppola movie. I almost got though the Las Vegas movie because ELIZABETH SHUE makes my dick hard and I couldn't get through it. Well, that isn't true. I skipped to the end and watched him die lamenting the fact it wasn't real.

He certainly can (could?) act. Cage's deal is that hes in too many films which are either garbage, or he phones in his character shamelessly.

One guy similar, who I used to really respect as an actor and who has degenerated into a screaming cartoon is Samuel L. Jackson.

 

One of the biggest Hollywood MYTHS is that Nick Cage is a bad actor. He's not bad AT ALL!

He's turned in too many very good performances to be considered a bad actor.

But to answer the question...... Paul Walker and Channing Tatum are the two worst actors in cinematic history.

Paul Walker makes Keanu look like prime Pacino by comparison. And Tatum is EVERY BIT as terrible as Walker, but slightly less annoying.

 

As bad as Paul Walker is Hadyn C is worse.

 

I think Cage actually may be the most generous actor in cinematic history. He's willing to take one for the team and has the unique ability to recognize he's in a shitty movie and will ham it up at his own expense, just to try to give us something entertaining.

As horrible as "The Wicker Man" was, could any other actor have made it entertaining. People think Cage was being unintentionally hilarious. I'd wager it was completely intentional.

 

I never hear anyone say Cage is a bad actor, actually. What people say is that he's annoying. And that he is.

Really bad actor is Ice T. I always felt Sidney Poitier was a bad actor too...definitely the most overrated actor in history. He's very "wooden". I can't stand to watch him on screen.

 

Morgan Freeman is a guy that tends to play the same role...a wise leader of some sort. Nevertheless he's a phenomenal actor. A man doesn't need to have queers, autistic fucks, cross dressers etc in their resume to be a good actor.

It's kinda like boxing. A guy doesn't need to have jumped through all manner of weight classes to be a great fighter.

No, not bullshit. He plays Jack Nicholson in every role. He has no range. He is one of the worst. Whether he plays a killer, a lover, a clown ...he does every role the exact same way. I cannot believe he is considered one of the best when in reality he is one of the worst.

 

Pacino's been pretty awful for at least 15 years, too. Seems the fate of every proper cultural icon to become a caricature of himself

Pacino was very good as Kevorkian. He was able to drop the "Pacino" character entirely for that part.

 

(1) ice t can't even play ice t. hayden christensen can't even play hayden christensen. jack nicholson has put in some amazing performances - batman, shining, cuckoo's nest - even if the characters are pretty similar.

(2) even though he prefers to play those caddish roles, he has played different characters sometimes and done it well - 'as good as it gets'.

Hardly. Cuckoo's nest was an awful movie. He played Jack Nicholson in as good as it gets. You are just wrong. Don't worry, you are in majority. He is as bad as the iconic actors before the talky era. Seriously, his portrayal of the joker was the same exact character in the "Shining" , "Cuckoo's Nest." "Good as it gets" show me one role where he didn't play a grumpy, smartass, with his stupid ass way of speaking. You annot find any. Nicholson, unlike Deniro and Pacino, never declined he was awful and still is awful. He was and never will be good. I don't believe in the devil, but if I did Nicholson would be a candidate for selling his soul(something else that is fictional.) He is a talentless hack.

Sorry but Hayden's performances in Star Wars were so bad that they can never compensate for any even half decent performance he's ever had. I also saw jumpers and he was atrocious in that also.
