Howard Davis was an amazing amateur fighter. But I never felt that he had the desire to be a professional fighter. Sure he went through the motions, beat many mediocre guys, and had a couple of title shots. He just never seemed to have the hunger to be a great pro boxer. That would get him a high-speed raping versus Whitaker. I can see Whitaker pot-shoting Davis for 6 or 7 rounds and stopping him shortly thereafter. This is no contest in my opinion.
