I dunno why Garcia is even considered "the man" at 140. All he's done is KO Khan (like Lucas wouldnt do that), and Khan lost his title as "the man" at 140, when he lost to........ Ding! Ding! Ding! Peterson. Besides that, all Danny has done is beat up a corpse that once was Erik Morales, and beat up a Judah that was 2.5 years older and more faded than the one who fought Matthyse. Matthyse has beaten Alexander (fuck the corrupt judges), destroyed Soto with one punch (a man who had never previously been dropped), destroyed a game, undefeated Ajose, and now obliterated Peterson. His resume shits on Garcia's. The onus is on Garcia to prove himself in this fight more so than Lucas. As it stands right now, Lucas is "the man" at 140, not Garcia. Danny's gonna have to beat Matthysse to prove otherwise.
It is literally impossible for you to be any closer to Lucas' swinging nutsack than you are today. Soto and Olusegun indeed. MTF
I've been saying for quite awhile now that Matthyse is the best junior welter in the world. I picked him to stop Peterson last night, and I've been saying for nearly a year that he'd kill Garcia. I also picked him to beat Alexander, when going into that fight most felt that Alexander was gonna school him.
Fine, you rate the lad. No harm in that. You might even be proven right - 140 is crap right now with no standout champs of late and a quick guy with obvious power could easily mop up there. But you are right up his hole with some of this stuff; peterdude was 'the man' at 140 and Soto and Olusegun being big wins... MTF
Peterson had about as much claim as being the man at 140 as Garcia does. They both earned their names off beating the Bolton glass man. You could say, well Garcia sparked Khan and Peterson didn't. But then again, Peterson thrashed and stopped Holt, and Garcia didn't.
Shhhhh...Mathysse just sparked out a roid-head with one notable win...it's teeny bopper day...Lucas KO's all comers/walks through Bradley...Peterdude was the man at 140...Soto was a great win MTF
There's your answer right there. And also the fact that Peterdude needed roids to eck out a controversial win. Garcia treat him like the chinny boxbot he is. MTF
Peterson wasn't on PEDs when he beat Khan firstly. I'm not sure if Garcia would have beaten Peterson. I think it's a fight that would have gone the distance either way. Garcia might have pulled it out by virtue of being a harder puncher with a better chin, but Peterson's a better technician. What I do know is, Garcia wouldnt have blown Peterson away in no 3 rounds.
I'm a Khan fan but I've always said Peterson deserved the decision and the point deductions were correct, nevertheless it was a very close fight. Garcia stopped Khan in spectacular fashion. He's bettered Petersons best win. There isn't that much to separate them to be honest, you're correct in that sense, but you still gotta have Garcia ahead of Peterson IMO. Regardless, I was making the point about Garcia being the man of the moment in the context of Neil's question. If we're talking about putting yourself in the shop window for a Mayweather fight, then the KO of Peterson alone won't suffice. A spectacular knockout over the more marketable Garcia however (especially with the KO of Khan still fresh in everyone's mind and with his dad talking shit, being undefeated etc) would be a big step in the right direction.
In September we will have our ANSWER....IMO Swiff isn't slick enough, or punches hard enough, or has enough chin...to handle Matthysee....so my pick is Matthysse as of right now..but that might change. But I do believe and declare that both guys will be facing the best opposition of their careers when they step in the ring against each other. Intriguing shit.... Matthysse in his last bunch of fights have fought either smaller guys or slick fast fighters with poor punching power(other than Judah)...Garcia would be first world class(boxer puncher) he has in a long while...if not ever...I don't know about his pro boxing life in Argentina. and Garcia...plain and simple hasn't fought anyone who fights like Matthysse...is a bit wild but takes his time and doesn't get hit a lot(considering his style)....and when he hits you it moves you. Because last night Peterson blocked some of those left hooks, but just the force of them moved him...
I hope that G goes straight with Matthyse - Garcia and don't try to milk this shit any longer. Like putting them on a double header against other scrubs before they face each other. Too bad Alvarado and Rios can't get in the mix.
yup. the guy isn't exactly hard to find & considering he was feeling the heat late from a 9000 year old zab judah, i don't think he can take matthysse's shots if khan learned how to keep his right glove up & not fight like a moron in general, i'd give him a shot in a rematch against garcia
