Who you gonna call? Not Ghostbusters, thank you very much. The much hyped, highly controversial, all female cast Ghostbusters remake met its biggest threats, The Secret Life of Pets and audience apathy and failed to grab the top spot at the box office. While not a complete flop (yet) since it earned a decent $46 million, it will hardly make any significant noise to warrant a sequel (at least with this current cast) and the dreams of a lucrative franchise are just a ghost of the past. The film will have a hard time recouping its $144 million investment (marketing not included) as American comedies don't do that well overseas (even the original 'Ghostbusters' grossed only $53 million overseas out of its $295 million total). The 'Ghostbusters' reboot made a shy $19 million overseas which is on the same track as the first one.

The Secret Life of Pets took again the top position at the chart with $50.5 million which brings its domestic total to $203.1 million after just 10 days.

The Legend of Tarzan continues pleasing crowds holding admirably despite the virulent bad reviews and 37% rotten scores and slip only 47% to claim the third spot with $11.1 million. Domestically the Edgar Rice Burroughs inspired film crossed the $100 million mark ($103M) and shows no sign of slowing down. It is still far from recouping its investment as the film carries a hefty price tag of $180 million and it will need to double that amount before calling a profit.

Finding Dory also is holding nicely with an also 47% drop in the fourth place and $11 million take, putting in at the top of the hill in the All Time Domestic Chart for an animated film: Dory has now made $445.5 million and is currently the top grossing domestic film of the year.

and finally in the fifth spot is Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates which took $7.5 million.
