I disagree about using a flash, it bleaches things out, the angle of natural light is important. Several of your shots lack contrast and good lighting because the light is shining more in your direction, rather than on them. You want the light to be behind you, shining on the subject, or to the side.

Also play around with the aperture and shutter speed and ISO setting, until it's letting in ample light, in fairly low light situations.

I hate flash, I tend to use natural light if at all possible. Flash is a real last resort for me.

 

but when you get so much light coming at the camera and your subject is dark, you should use the flash if you don't want to see a sillohuette

 

But I already said, you should manoeuvre so that the light is beind you, not pointing at you/the camera ::

If the subject absolutely has to be with the light behind them, pointing at you, look for any angles you can get away with without flash, and if not, then flash as a last resort.

 

Karl looks to be about twice Juan's weight...with the vast majority of it being muscle! :clap: :clap: :clap:
