I wasn't impressed with Plant's performance tonight. I'm not saying he's a bum but compared to the other top guys at 168(Bendvides, Saunders, Canelo and now Charlo) he's the weakest link. He was in a showcase with a tomato(Truax) can who had recently been knocked out and did not impress anyone by going the distance with a bum. Having said that I did see some things I liked. Plant has a great jab, good footspeed and good defense. But lacks power, fights with his hands down and seems to be afraid to be in a dogfight by always being on the backfoot(question his heart). For a guy who's calling Canelo hes not making a case for himself with a performance like this.
Didnt know Bruce Seldom had a son who boxed? I still remember Seldom vs Tyson. Seldom was built like a greek god but no chin .
Correct me if I am wrong. DAZN scoffed at Canelo-BJ Saunders (according to Golden Boy) but were okay with Canelo-Plant. Plant turned it down and DAZN okayed Canelo-Smith.
I would like to see Berlanga vs Benavidez but I doubt Berlanga's team okays that big of a risk with no belt on the line.
They are talking about Benevides vs Mall in May or September. Now that would be better than Canelo vs Saunders. Berlanga is calling out everyone but he's writing checks his body cant cash by fighting Benavides. He needs 3 more fights.
That's Basically It... Plant Didn't Feel He Had Enough Time to Prepare, So He Passed On the Canelo Offer...Then Came the Breach of Contract Lawsuit, Which was Settled Out of Court, Leading to Canelo's Free Agency... Then Canelo Signed a 1-Fight Deal to Face Callum Smith and he Signed Another 1-Fight Deal for the WBC Mandatory Defense Against Yildirim, in February... REED Would Be Shocked if Canelo vs. Plant ISN'T On Deck for May...Or Canelo vs. Saunders... REED
You're Both Right... Berlanga HAS Talked Aggressively in the Past... But Since His Name Started Blowing Up @ the Tail End of 2020, He's Been More Respectful and AWARE of the Fact There's a Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaarge Gap btwn All 1st Round KO's and Facing an Elite, World Class '68 Pounder Like Benavidez... Let's See Berlanga Against the Likes of Uzcat, Truax, J'Leon Love, Dirrell or Rosado 1st, Before Entertaining the Idea of Benavidez... REED
Rosado would be THE most logical step up for Berlanga. If not for Covid, that shit would EASILY draw a big crowd at Barclays given its NYC vs Philly. If Berlanga annihilated Gabe, it would be time to say, "OK, this dude might be for real."
As for Caleb, looks like me and REED are the only two cats of any forums who are fans of Plant, but his Jon.B lookin ass bet NOT be in with a bum next time. Three in a row is enough.
Pillow fisted Plant is the type of fighter that will put his fans to sleep rather than his opponents.
