Yeah I love the early rounds of the FA cup. Havant & Waterlooville knocking out Swansea and taking the lead twice at Anfield was a great story and a wonderful achievement. Another of my favourite upsets was Kingstonian beating Brentford at Griffin Park. It's shit when it happens to your club though, one of the darkest days I can remember as a QPR fan was when we got knocked out of the FA Cup AT HOME to Vauxhall Motors

Whilst we're on the subject, I don't watch cup competitions in other countries generally, even Spain, but the one I do remember watching was the French FA Cup final in the early 2000's. The amateur team Racing Calais managed to reach the final, beating a few Ligue 1 (French Premier division) sides along the way. Basically the equivalent of Dover Athletic, postmen, milkmen, etc who played football on the side. The went 1-0 up before going down 2-1 to a last minute penalty which shouldn't have been given. If they'd pulled it off it would have been the greatest sporting achievement I'd have witnessed in my lifetime, and an upset greater than Tyson-Douglas.

So I just read a post on another forum that every time Aaron Ramsey scores, a public figure dies.

His victims are Osama Bin L, Gadaffi, Steve Jobs and Whitney Huston.

Not in the same league of upsets, but you got me thinking about my favourite upsets. WC 2002. The USA had an absolutely miserbale performance in 1998, not winning a game. Before the opener against Portugal, a Portuguese official was giving a tour of the media boxes to a group of Koreans and he said right in front of all of the US media and broadcasters "Of course the USA will never beat Portugal in this sport. This would be like us beating them in a game in basketball. Would never happen." We had them down 2-0 in the opening minutes, then 3-0. They came back but we beat them 3-2. :dancingBaby:

Right, my Southern chums, anyone recommend any decent boozers to watch the final in on Sunday? Preferably something reasonably close to the Wembley area as my mates are going the game while i watch it in a pub.

    Hmm, north west london.

I don't know any I can recommend you, buddy. Are you ideally looking for a pub around the ground, or would you pop onto a train/tube to meet your mates after the game?

Not sure. I'll probably have a better idea by tomorrow afternoon.

I've thrown a fiver on Cardiff 2:1 @ 25/1. If it comes in i reckon i'll be the smuggest beaut in London that afternoon. My mates will despise me by the time we get back home.

Good bet. I think Cardiff will be dangerous. There should be a few goals in that game.

The Green Man is supposed to be a nice pub near Wembley. That's where we hold the pre-parties for the American football games at Wembley.

My last day in London I met this old, drunk racist guy named Anthony Quinn. He actually said that the "bloody Indians and Pakis are bringing this country down" and pointed out that Hounslow is "full of Asians." I pointed out that I had seen a lot of Polish and other Europeans around as well.
His response was "Yeah, but the Poles like football, don't they? So they'll come and drink in the pubs and watch football. These bloody Indians and Pakis...they never come into the pubs."

I had to laugh that in his drunken logic, not drinking in English pubs= bringing the country down.

He later bragged that when he came to America he told all the black security workers at the airport that his grandfather sold their relatives for sugar and mollassis (sp?). Class act.

Yeah, that wasn't lost on me. That the leader of the West London KKK shared a name with a Mexican actor. He brought that up as well after he told me that one of daughters was born in Africa so he calls her his "little coon baby." This conversation took place because I asked him if he thought a foul that happened (between Newcastle and Stoke) was actually inside the penalty box. :egypt:

If somebody is going to start their own Hate Division, the least they can do is come up with their own name. You listening to me Jimmy???

I'm looking fwd to watching QPR-Fulham this morning. Can QPR avenge that 6-0 thrashing at the hands of their West London rivals? :34:

They're actually showing six Prem matches and two npower matches today on US TV. :rock1:

West Ham/Crystal Meth Palace kicking off now. :cheer:

I'm on my way to the game now. Hot as hell here in West London. Hottest day in months. Got a feeling Zamora will score and we'll win. Revenge will be sweet.

There's loads of indians filling up the pubs in Hounslow on matchdays. Well, when Man Utd are on tv. They all support them here. Once the game finishes they all leave in some sort of mad rush

Things are better up this way right now - if we win today we set an all time club record for consecutive domestic wins! I'm gonna chisel a statue of Neil Lennon and put it on my roof like Christ the redeemer.

Jol has said that Fulham are "a bigger club than QPR".

    Load of fucking bollocks.

I've found Hounslow and Acton to be a mad mix of characters especially when it comes to teams they support. Just in a matter of days I met in that area(teams they support):

A black guy from Liverpool (Liverpool)
A white guy from Liverpool (Liverpool)
White guy with one tooth from Sheffield who claims Liverpool is a shithole but still supports (Everton)
White guy from Bolton (Man U)
Irish lady from Cork (Norwich-because of their colours)
Indian guy in a store (Liverpool)
Indian (from Trinidad&Tobago) and a White Londoner both supported (Leeds)
Drunk ass Russians who had gotten kicked out of two different hotels (Spartak Moskov)
Two Geordies in Acton who didn't know each other (Newcastle)
An Indian who was born near Newc. (Newcastle)
A bunch of Irishmen and one grumpy Scottish in the Wishing Well (all Celtic except the one angry Scot who was Rangers)

And in Acton, shitload of Chelsea and QPR fans. I watched the second half of that match (the one with the Terry incident) at Mill Hill (48% QPR, 48% Chelsea, with a fewdisplaced Scousers and Geordies) on my way back from Craven Cottage.

In Liverpool, I seldom meet anyone who is not Everton or Liverpool. A few here and there.
