Met a guy from London before the game today who's been going to nearly every Celtic home game for 25 years. Pretty nuts. Cosmopolitan day, there were supporters groups from New York, Poland & St. Pauli, on flights booked when it looked like we'd lift the league today. athetic: At least 10-15k Irish over, too. Celtic were abysmal for them.
I've been saying that all season :scratcher: Don't know what is up with Liverpool. They score 5 goals on the bounce, and somehow find themselves throwing away a game in London they should have walked, and since then, albeit only two games, its been poo. Reina is unlucky, but don't referees just love a bit of themselves?
Cisse has made a big difference and Ben Arfa is now playing regularly and as well as I expected him to. These have changed a well organised, over-achieving bunch of triers into a very potent and fluid side. Liverpool will only play well in the FA Cup, they have given up on the league this season. NUFC did the same under 'King Kenny' in 1997/8, winning none of our last nine league games before FA Cup semi-final and final. Mind, we got dry-humped in the end. MTF
I wouldn't excuse anything thats gone on, but the Season has a limbo-esque feeling to it. Liverpool are out of the top 4, so that gave them the Europa League to play for, but winning the Carling Cup took that out of it, which means they wind up between two stools, hence the experimentation with Shelvey, Flanagan, Coates, Sterling. Its not entirely beneficial in my opinion. Players still like to play well and win games.
Amateur footage of Andy Carroll yesterday: http://www.lolwtfcomics.com/upload/uploads/oie_919311U8j4padS.gif
:: I actually feel sorry for the lad. He was clearly forced out of NUFC and is very unhappy where he is. A waste of a lot of potential. MTF
Thats the hard thing, poor fucker paid for a good deal of a successful NUFC team, and he still gets buckets of abuse. I am surprised he has flopped so badly, I fancied him to do well on the big stage (albeit overpriced at what pool paid for him).
Fail to see why the focus should fall on Carroll, other than for the fee. He's played as well as anybody else this season, and has worked hard where others, a la Torres, would have frumped about. Needless to say its an easy entree for the usual plebs in the press, and the usual plebs who gobble up the spiel, but there's been precious little mention of how missed Lucas and Agger have been. Of course, they were signed by The Wog, so that won't look good. How to bash Liverpool and remain respectful of Dalglish....it must be a hard task when ones vocabulary is so limited and when so many of the players who DO deserve credit weren't signed by the British incumbent.
This is the problem...the FEE. If he was signed for half of the total MAYBE he wouldn't get as much shit. BTW...Torres and Carroll aren't really that different. Neither have been worth what their respective teams signed them for.
That's beside the point. Reina was signed for £6m and he got sent off. Lucas was signed for £5m, played his balls off, was the key man in many big victories- including that game vs Chelsea in the 2010/2011 Season, and was pilloried up and down the street. Carroll could have cost $100m, he's been putting in shifts. He can't score for fun because the team isn't scoring for fun. He's been more than doing his own share of the work. Torres hasn't done jack shit at Chelsea yet they might win the FA Cup or the European Cup. What does that tell you? It tells you somebody else has been picking up the slack. Blame Carroll by all means, he's been a handful of brilliant saves away from a hatful of late, match-winning goals. Guys like Adam, Henderson might take a long hard look at themselves. Gerrard too. Regarding Dalglish, I said before to Hut that Dalglish was too refined, too entrenched in his own "proper football" philosophy to be much use once the shit hit the fan too often. Benitez knew how to tuck up, ride it out. Dalglish wants to fight back when he should run, play three strikers when he should play a 6 man midfield. Remember Benitez and the "infamous" game vs Portsmouth in February 2009? Liverpool started with 8 or 9 defensive players, and won 3-2, because Benitez knew how to get things like that done. Dalglish doesn't. Dalglish is all Blitzkrieg, Benitez knew how to grind it out. Benitez might never win you the league but hey, he came close, and he was light years ahead of Hodgson. Light years. Hodgson and his appointment to the Liverpool job is a classic example of the latent bigotry in the press and a patent example of why the English National Side is pants.
For the last three years or so, the Saturday FA Cup semi-final has been played around 5:15 pm. Now they have Liverpool and Everton playing at 12:30 pm. They must not want 90,000 Scousers hanging around London for too long. I wouldn't care except that earlier time slot (4:30 am for me) means unless I change my work schedule, I won't get to watch this bastard. :flip:
Last time Everton and Liverpool were supposed to play each other at Wembley: <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/qamVB4ixxGs" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I don't blame Carroll for our shit season, the team bar one or two are just not performing.. Adam disappointing, Henderson I still have high hopes he's still a kid. Downing - shit get him out I was never a fan, he is a middlesboro player through and through.. One thing I will say about Carroll is that he has NOT been putting in a shift. The first ten minutes against Newcastle he looked very very good, he was menace. However when the game wasnt going his way he faded and faded fast. Carroll was the front man yet Saurez ran straight by Carroll several times to close down Krul and the back 4 - that is very disappointing... every player has the ability to run FFS.. At this point Kenny needs to experiment with the team..Coates should start every game until the end of the season. Shevley needs a run in midfield, that kid Sterling ?? get him on the pitch. Carroll should play every minute of every game until May
Is there a website where you can look at all of the rosters of Premier League clubs and see for how much money each player was signed?
The probelm is the back line defense...it's horrible. I can think of two games Jose Enrique lost by letting his man get behind him to score late goals. Of course Carroll isn't the main reason Liverpuel sucks as of late. My point is simply that he wasn't worth the money.
Sterling has already been on, in the defeat to Wigan, at home. Good player. Another Benitez signing. :bears: This might sound fucked.....but Liverpool are actually very very close to being a very decent side. Its like a sophisticated firearm with very damp powder right now.
Meh.. Overall Enrique is having a good season.. our problem is not so much defending but scoring...the amount of games we were on top but failed to score.. our goals for are of a team in the bottom half
