I remember watching Italian football back in the day, I think it was AC milan, they required one point to win the league playing against a team that needed a point to stay up.

Milan scored and directly from the kick off the team threatened with relegation scored... fishy but very entertaining

I'm trying to think of a more dramatic finish to a season? Micky Thomas back in the day perhaps (sorry Irish)? Can't think of anything else in my lifetime...

What? That was before football was ever invented.

Probably Andy Polesmoker missing a hatful of chances away to West Ham and Redknapp firing Liverpool into a lead vs Blackburn at Anfield with Kenny sweating manfully into his promo jacket.

Yes! Well, there was no word on what they were actually celebrating but they were all running around by their supporters section smiling and waving and then someone told them about the second goal and the smiles got a little smaller and then word got to them on the third goal and they looked like they were watching the apocolypse.

Don't you just hate these commentators? Think Kenneth Wolstenholme, Englands greatest moment......how reserved he was. Tony Hibbert finally scored a goal...

    ...for Newcastle.

There is a facebook group that has vowed to go absolutely mental when Hibbert finally scores a goal. I wonder of they kept their vow.

Fucking over the moon!! Thank you Stoke!! Everything worked out ok in the end. City knew they were in a game today and we made a mockery of the pre-match predictions.

AND NOW YOU GOTTA BELIEVE US, AND NOW YOU GOTTA BELIEVE US, AND NOW YOU GOTTA BELIEVE UUUUUSSSSSS...THE R's ARE STAYING UP!!!!!!! :partie:

    Liverpool 0–2 Arsenal (26 May 1989)
'The match is considered to be one of the most dramatic conclusions to a league season in the history of the English game. It is also regarded as the starting point of a renaissance in English football and the moment where people started to see the untapped commercial potential of live football on television,'

Personally I think today was the most dramatic finish to a season, in my lifetime anyway. It beats Thomas at the post just because they needed two goals in injury time rather than one.

QPR threw United under the bus as soon as they heard the result from Stoke and knew they were safe. :nono:

City never looked like scoring an equalizer, let alone a winner...and then they get 2 soft goals in injury-time??
    :shit:

And Im not even a Red.

I avoided the last 20m or so and the final result to keep MOTD dramatic - the coverage literally hasnt uttered a word about the fate of QPR/Bolton :nono: Poor.

Na I know Barry mentioned that we found out the Bolton result just as we entered injury time, but we were well under the cosh at that point. Kenny was just pulling off some ridiculous saves, the one from Balotelli especially. At one point they had something like 10 corners in a row, there's only so much you can withstand, the momentum from the goal and the crowds sudden enlivenment then allowed them to catch us cold for the second.
