Well, im sure the emoticon says alot more than it looks like it does, but having watched Belfort compete in BJJ tourney's for over 10 years, I feel more than confident in saying he's one of the best I've ever seen.

I dont doubt it, but what he did in BJJ tourney doesnt really mean squat if he cant bring it to MMA.

Hows this.....as far as MMA competitions are concerned, Belfort has no ground game......better?

I never said Vitor was some great practitioner on the ground in MMA, which is why I already mentioned he's never been able to do shit without the gi.

And he has a ground game in MMA, but its predicated on survival. Not exactly anything to be proud of.

Exactly. He has a decent ground game but like you said it's all about survival for him. Which can be alright if a guy gasses trying to GnP you or starts trowing sloppy punches and elbows. Though Belfort just holds 'em tights and just takes it. Just seems like he has no will left.

And to FourHooks, just because someone (though your right about Belfort) dosn't finish people from their guard dosn't mean their bjj isn't any good. A tight guard really tires people and alot of bjj guys love to sweep into a top postion and end the fight from there, much stronger control and sweat and blood don't effect the short subs like a Key Lock or a Kimura like they do on a arm bar or knee bar.

Cro Cops open guard isn't that bad.

again, what good has vitors guard ever done for him??? He doesnt finish fights from there, period....He gets to that position and does crap.....I dont want to hear about guys gassing from his guard, because its usually him who gasses. Vitor doesnt win fights on the ground, simple as that....All sorts of talk about his all world BJJ, and he gets into an MMA event, and its looks like all he can do is defend. What good is defense when you cant turn it into a way to win a fight?

Like I said you were right about Belfort, I'm no disagreeing with you at all. Though like I said a good tight guard can win a fight for you. Dosn't work for Belfort though, your right.
