Tender. What a song, it must annoy Jarvis knowing he could never make something that good

Oh yeah, what could be better than Damon affecting cockneyness? An older Damon dabbling in shite, affected gospel! Marvelous.

Pish lyrics, contrived drab music, totally uninteresting in every aspect. Damon is anti-art.

You do realise Radiohead nearly gave up on OK Computer as they thought it could never match up to the brilliance of Parklife? True story.

Beefheart and Tom Waits shit on all the other people in that sentence of Hut Hut's.

The 3 best singers/songwriters/musicians in pop/rock history are Arthur Lee, Beefheart, and Syd Barrett.

Pulp are OK. Somewhat underrated actually. Common people and Disco 2000 are both great pop songs.

See Radiohead, there's a band who knew who they were and spoke from there. Damon's spent his whole musical life running away from the fact that he's a nice upper-middle class boy from the leafy home counties, too. You can't make art in denial.....you can write a hit, you can be successful, you can make well crafted goods cleverly but you can't make anything that's worth shit in the long run or really speaks to anyone.

Blur won't be remembered with any real regard, because they were contrived. Common People will be remembered, that's an all time classic pop song that says something real & from a real place (about phonies like Damon, no less :atu:).

Parklife era Blur is the UK's cultural equivalent to Vannila Ice. Damon's a fucking wigga & a walking cringe.

I discovered Syd Barrett long after Love and Beefheart, but man, he's up there with the best of them.

See Emily Plays, Arnold Layne, I love them. And Vegetable Man.

"He's the kind of man that you've just got to see if you can, Vegetable Man!".

And in Bike "I've got a bike you can ride it if you like, it's got a basket, a bell, and lots of little things that make it look good. I'd give it you if I could, but I borrowed it"

I'd agree Beefheart's in the top 3. Safe as Milk is pure, channeled genius.

Stravinsky said 'I dont write make music, I invent it' .....Beefheart could have said it just as easily.

Sorry Slicey, I liked Blur when I was like 13 but I kind of agree with Hut. They were contrived adn Damon is just a complete twat really.

I actually went to see Damon Albarn/Blur live, and they were the single most disappointing live band I've ever seen.

    Albarn had no presence/charisma/electricity/anything.

They got progressively less awful as they went for the reason you give. Think Tank is actually pretty decent.

Really liking Ambulance. I'm glad Damon grew out of it and became a grown up. Kudos to him and a happy day for me, unburdened within two songs of the third most passionate hatred in my life.

If somebody can just show me the overlooked cultural merits of Rangers FC & the American right wing all the opposites will be recoupled.

I hated Think Tank , probably because Coxon had such little influence on it.

And Mex, don't forget about "Apples and Oranges", pukka tune

Let's be honest here, where else was it going to go? It would have just been Curry KO 1, Curry by death, Curry should get arrested for homicide etc and then just sunk to the bottom of the page, never to see the light of day again . It was just another Khan-bashing thread, we have just injected some life into it. Don't be such a Charmless Man, Feebs...

Honestly mate, no. I mentally switch off once people start yammering on about these balloons. I'd rather talk about Khan being sparked out by Curry...foolishly I thought this was a boxing forum...

It's a discussion forum. Sometimes threads warrant being kept strictly on course, sometimes they're just a vehicle for people to shoot the breeze and waste an hour or two. An average MM thread gets about 3 replies and the only reason this got more was that Slice started stirring the pot in the first place.
