:cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: props to jermain for taking the rematch again, and for being dignified about what was clearly a spirit-crushing result. he'll come back from this. the man's too focused and committed to lose his heart.
Jermain got whupped again.. I hope he rides off into the sunset and we are rid of him Pavlik looked decent but I agree with you guys that he did not look like the killer he was at 160 I still pick him to beat Kessler, I always thought Kessler was a "poor man's" Pavlik But... I honestly thing Roy.. NOW beats Pavlik
It happens sometimes- Nigel Benn is the perfect example of a monster puncher at 160 who didn't carry anything like as much pop at 168.
well... differences though my old friend MTF Taylor is a American, southern good kid just not elite Benn is an over-rated Euro bum
Indeed sometimes it does happen, just like Benn. But are you saying this IS the case with pavlik? Do you think he simply isn't much of a puncher at 168, or do you think it's more what I suggested, with Taylor being cagier, and Pavlik not really finding the openings to unleash his monster punches?
As you say, there are other possible explanations, but it's something I wondered before the fight and it would be interesting to see him fight at the weight again (which is unlikely) to see if maybe the same happens. After one fight though, it's far too early to tell. And maybe it would be more prudent to give props to Taylor for making himself harder to hit this time around...
No. But if Tito somehow pulled off a miracle and won........ it sure would make Roy look good.:bears: ::
agREED... N the 1st Round, Pavlik Landed a HUGE Right Hand & Taylor Took it VERY Well...N the 1st Fight, Pavlik Punched THRU Taylor' Guard, but Couldn't Do So this Fight... REED
not right now he wouldn't and maybe not even prime for prime I don't even like Taylor but Benn is one of the most over-rated fighters ever
Benn was an incredibly hard puncher at 160, and VERY aggressive, balls on the line. Prime Benn at 160 would have blasted Taylor out of there like Pavlik did the first time.
That's Quite Possible... "However"... Benn NEVER had a STURDY Chin or Good Defense...& Given Taylor's HEART & HANDSPEED it's Conceivable that he Catches an Overly Aggressive Benn & KO's him... REED
This is exactly how I would foresee the fight, though I also agree that his habit of blocking punches with his chin on the way in meant he may have been caught and dropped himself. If not, he would have bombed Taylor out in good order.
It's certainly possible, because Benn was a far less solid and complete fighter than Pavlik. But personally my bet would have been Benn by KO in under 6 rounds.
