I know you're a strong dude LOK....but the strongest 181lb man who ever lived without any specialized training? You can understand my e-skepticism.

Yeah, the gym environment is not always conducive to hardcore training. Yesterday, I shit you not, I wanted to do some wide grip chins at the gym. The only problem is that the only gym close enough to my work at lunchtime has only one chinup bar which is connected to two cable pulley crossover/pulldown machines. I wanted to do a set of chins to warm up my upper body and I had to wait five minutes because this guy was doing pectoral cable crossovers with 10lbs on each arm.

I'm dead serious. This dude was doing them slow and grunting, and he grunted out like 40 slow-ass reps. He would have gotten a harder workout for his pecs by lying on a bench and doing flyes with a couple of 12-packs of soda.

With a home gym, you don't have to work around other people's schedules.:dunno:

I torrented 'Dinaosaur Training' by Brooks Kubrik, yesterday. I liked this part:

'Most dinosaurs train in home gyms. They are 'cellar-dwellers', or 'garage gorillas' and proud of it. The idiocy of the modern gym scene is sheer torture for them. The modern mess causes them deep and unrelenting torment. They MUST stay away from the nonsense and the silliness or it will destroy them. They have to retreat to their subterranean hideaways and
escape the madness of the modern muscle scene'

 Slightly OTT, but I agree with the sentiment.

As long as I have good music to listen to, I have no problem with training in my basement. I have more than enough iron, and I don't have to wait to use anything. The only time I have to wait is to make sure I have someone to spot me on heavy efforts so that they can peel one side off if the bar gets stuck on my chest. I play it safe in that regard, but that hasn't happened to me in at least 10 years.

I've no idea what's going on in this thread. I seem to be picturing HutHut turning up at his gym in full on camo kit, webbing, cam cream etc. . . .
