Another thing some might want to consider is weather or not the literal interpretation of creating earth meant the globe itself. I don't think it did. The bible describes the earth as formless and a waste with darkness and the use of a force across the surface of the seas that were on it. Simplistic description of something "scientific" being done ? Let's say some day far from now we decided to terraform a planet . We might similarly describe the planet before we began. It would certainly explain the age of some things on Earth.
