Tarver is the one who did jack shit in that fight. After a good first two rounds for Tarver, Roy got most of the next 4 rounds to take place at center ring where Tarver did fuck all but stare at Roy, looking to counter, leary of Roy's bodywork. The best he did from rounds 3 to 6 was late in round 4 when he flurried on Roy on the ropes and hit mostly arms, gloves, and elbows. After a close round 7 and a good round 8 for Tarver, Tarver went back to doing fuck all in round 9. He had a decent flurry with about 30 seconds left but not nearly enough to take the round. After a good round 10, Tarver went back to doing nothing in round 11 but take (and block) Jones's shots. He had one little bullshit flurry on the ropes that landed on Roy's gloves and elbows. Then Tarver started off round 12 strong, a nice 20 second flurry early on, and then did nothing for the last 2 minutes and Roy landed the better shots for the remainder. Tarver maybe gets a draw.....if you're being really generous to him.
round 6 proved he wasn't... what a stupid argument - come on Kaliber you're not that stupid u showed your not just a shit talking pole all the time when i provoked you with Wloda-Cuntingham. Now put your Roy hatred to the side and be a good boy. :nono:
at least some people are cool enough to admit it... like me i'm a Roy groupie... and i'm pretty harsh on Roy giving him the fight only 7:5 the closest possible... ::
you're right feel free to change The heavyweight championship to an A heavyweight championship :bears:
Prime Roy vs Tarver would have been like the David Telesco fight. Tarver would start out with no fear, then be a scared shell of himself. Prime Roy vs Glen Johnson would look like the Bryant Brannon fight. Johnson wouldn't hit anything but be caught by a sharp Roy and KO'd in probably 5.
:: you're so blind dude it's sad. By creating those little scenarios do you sleep easier at night? Is that how your world make sense again?? Fact of the matter is you have NOTHING to go by to say that Roid does that to glen and tarver. Now what you have to go by is the fact they already fought roid and they both KNOCKED HIM THE FUCK OUT. Fact of the matter is BOTH glen and tarver were OLDER than Roid at the time of their respective fights. So now what if i told you both glen and tarver were past their primes themselves and they still fucked your boy up? Imagine what they'd do to him in THEIR PRIMES
Bullshit. When Glen Johson was younger and got beaten pillar to post by Hopkins. That version of Glen gets stopped way earlier by Roy. I'd take 23 year old RJJ over 23 year old Tarver and 23 year old Johnson AT THE SAME TIME.
So now you're saying Roid takes them out 1 on 2 ? What's next he single handendly stops an alien invesion?
You need some more to help formulate your stupid theory that Antonio Tarver would beat the Roy Jones of the late 1990s even though he got badly owned by Eric Harding?
I said from the first Tarver fight that Roy suffered in moving back down. As boxing buffs, you people should understand that boxers who move up, don't move back down. And there is no more of a weight disparity between weight divisions than Lt. Heavyweight to Heavyweight. At an advanced age,...it took alot out of Jones to move back down to 175, especially since when he stepped into the ring against Ruiz, he was almost 200 pounds of solid muscle. Think people.....and when you do, the answers are obvious.
Well a lot of people seem to forget that Jones has actually beaten Tarver. In the first fight. Secondly the rematch wasn't an assbeating. It was a one punch KO, and though it was still early Jones was controlling the fight. Now say what you want, Tarver did knock out Jones but I still think it was lucky. He closed his eyes when he threw that punch. The same thing tarver did against Harding. He closed his eyes threw a haymaker and it turned the fight around. A fight he was losing too, The third fight. IIts clear as day, Jones put in a dissapointing perfermance a lost clearly. After about the 4th round he was a non threat and let Tarver take over the fight. Tarver wasn't impressive himself, but he won, no excuses. T
Only an idiot would believe that Tarver faced the best Roy that was offered to the world. The Jones that took out Virgil Hill and Reggie Johnson would have toyed with Tarver. I know it, you know it and any intelligent boxing fan knows it.
so why did Jones run from heavyweight after hand picking Ruiz? :dunno: why did he become completely gunshy just from being floored by Tarver? :dunno:
There was no heavyweights aka big names that were beatable that wanted to fight him. Tyson didn't and Holyfield was having problems with King at the time.
i would like kalibre to answer this. did that korean guy in the olympics have golota's number or does golota just suck and has zero significant win in his entire career?
korean won on a cut. If it wasn't for the cut Golota would have knocked him out. Where is that korean now? Other than the cameo in the Balls of Fury movie i've never heard of him since..
he sliced up that polish vagina and won the fight fair and square. you also failed to answer my question. ::
Roy beat tarver in the first fight and looked shot. I do think that coming down in weight had something to do with it, or maybe because balco went out of business at the same time. either way, roy was not the same fighter after coming down in weight. He is Shot and should retire.
