It's not like Ray was facing a total stranger. If you're a kid and it's someone you've been taught to trust, you're not going to react like the stereotypical macho action hero.

Sounds like some here believe that teenagers should instantly or instinctively react like knowledgeable adults. That's unrealistic. This type of thing is devastating for a kid.

Abuse from an authority figure who has been placed in a position of trust is not something that everyone automatically shakes off. Why do you guys think predators typically prey on inexperienced individuals?

 

You're usually much more openminded than this. Maturity and experience are not things which every 17-year-old automatically has. Some do and some don't.

This is similar in that you have a bit of the story and then start making assumptions based on info you don't have.

 

It's natural people don't wanna understand how easily they can be influenced. There's plenty info out there on early CIA techniques for getting confessions, hell even used car sales manuals that talk all about this kind of stuff in detail and it's all based around the same patterns. Isolate somebody from the outside world in some way (training camp, hours and hours of boxing training to the exclusion of a social life), become a figure that somebody relies on for their security or validation (will coach help me get to the olympics, does coach think Im good enough, will coach treat me well in the gym?), or set such a strong precedent in a relationship that it feels like a huge move to break with it and you can have massive influence on people. They'll do things they never thought they would - stuff they don't want to. People revert to child ego states. More commonly than you'd think. Tougher, smarter people than you or me.

This prick has all these dynamics going for him here automatically.....all this macho talk about what a 16, 17 y/o boy should have done while in a state of total fucking shock is dumb as shit. Really. Ray stopped the guy and ran out, which is more than some people might have done.

Ray didn't say he stopped the guy...he said the guy put his mouth on him THEN he ran out. Stopping means the guy touches Ray then Ray bolts. Not the guy touched Ray, opened Ray's pants, opened HIS pants then bent over then placed his mouth on him.

"Like I said before" sounds to me like Ray let him finish THEN he felt guilty...assuming it happened.
