RbR Sam/McCall, Gomez/Bakhtov, Erdei/Blades

In general, I don't mind rematch clauses.

But having one on an eliminator match just seems wrong. Very wrong.

 

That the fight was an eliminator at all is wrong.

 

To play devils av here...why was this so bad? Both McCall and Sam are top 25 style heavies. I believe this fight was more of a reflection on the state of the division, than the particular state of shady mandatories.

I totally agree with mike though. How you can have a rematch clause for an eliminator strikes me as against the very premise of a ABC sanctioned fight.

 

Well, I didn't think Maskaev-Sam should have been an eliminator either and Sam certainly hasn't accomplished much since that fight/loss.

McCall hasn't accomplished much himself since his win over Akinwande...except for no-contesting (or losing, as it was) to Gomez and Williamson.

McCall shouldn't have been ranked near the top 10 or 20 of any ranking...that is the real reflection on the state of the division (and boxing), IMO.

 

I didn´t really pay much attention to the post-fight interview, but I believe McCall said they had no rematch clause, but he´ll be happy to give Sam a rematch anyway,while waiting until the whole Maskaev/Peter/Vitali mess is solved.
