Re-watched Scarface last night

Scarface is shit. Goodfellas is a good film. Godfather 1 and 2 are far superior to both.

 

Have you ever watched that film? If not then :flip:

 

Scarface is a classic film. You not liking it is your opinion. There's a guy somewhere like you spouting the same bullshit your spitting about The Godfather or Goodfellas. To be honest I feel the same way about Commando as you do about Scarface. The difference is I'm not going to come on here and state it as fact while shitting on anyone else's opinion that differs from mine.

Maybe I'm going a little overboard here with my rant but your thread kind of pissed me off for no other reason than I 100% disagree with the whole damn thing. It's not that I have a problem with someone not liking Scarface, I can actually understand how it isn't for everyone. My problem is having someone tell me that I'm wrong for liking Scarface.

 

That film looks cheesy as fuck there is no way i will suffer through that shit.

 

Scarface is indeed ridiculous, but I find it rather entertaining as a ridiculous, over-the-top, unintentionally funny movie.

It is indeed overrated though, and not close to being in the same category as classic gangster movies like The Godfather, Goodfellas, or Casino. Pacino and De Palma collaborated on Carlito's Way and that was a better movie.

Scarface is a lot better than Belly though. Hype Williams is a stylish director, but that movie was not good.

Its more realistic than alot of druglord/mob movies. People get sawed up, cant trust anybody. Most of all it encapsulates the plight of man... the world is not enough. If you dont get that I cant help you.Excellent movie.

the movie's fucking class

ok, the characters and dialogue aren't real - you aren't gonna empathise with them and their emotional trajectories the way that happens with godfather and goodfellas. but movies aren't just about that.

people comparing it to the long list of gangster movies that directly or indirectly ripped it off.... the point is, scarface was first, like 10-25 years ahead of all those other movies. it does matter - when you know that a movie's completely derivative, you can't help but hate the director for lack of originality while watching it.

 

Pacino cracks me up when he speaks in this movie.
