REED, nah, Ruiz takes it too far. Bernard is a great example of substance over style. When he's on form I actually quite like watching nard fight. Fuck, you only have to see him work Pavlik in his very last fight to see his craft. But obviously, Bernard undoubtedly has an ugly, mauling style, it aint pretty, but it's very crafty and gets the job done. Give me Bernard's style over a runner any day. But Ruiz, he's on the level of a Dirrell, but stylistically different, more octopus like of course.
I'm surprised that a boxing fan as smart as you can say these things. Ruiz rebounded from one of the most brutal knockouts ever to win a number of respectable fights and even took home the belt on a few occasions. The guy might clinch like a mating octopus, and he may have an ugly style, but he has made it very far on guts and mental stamina. He's a perennial contender and occasionally a world titleholder. Ruiz is not an all-time great, but he has shown the ability to come back from adversity. The guy may not be pretty, but there's no denying his guts and determination.
I admire David and am a fan of his, but he has that bad right hand. An experienced clutch artist like Ruiz will, IMO, lock that hand up with his own left hand under his armpit and look to turn Haye into his shots and turn this into an alley fight. The key to The Champion retaining his title may lie in his left hand, just as it was when he set up the big ape for his right hand. Bet on both guys being in condition and ready for this encounter.
