Like Joony Said, Moras Armbarred her...But the Thing is, Pena Apparently REFUSED to Tap...Brave/Crazy Bitch, Which is Probably What it's Gonna Take to BEAT Ronda Rousey...

Rousey is plenty beatable. She doesn't punch that hard, she's gotten into bad positions, her versatility seems minimal.

Women's mma just lacks real talent. So while Rousey is probably the best unjuiced female in women's mma, it won't be a huge upset in my mind when she goes down.
The way Zingano handled Miesha, she might be the one to do it.

Pena has some of the tools to have a decent chance, but she is only a year away from getting beaten by Moras. That = Rousey beating her pretty easily.

So, in a nutshell you're saying Rousey can be beaten.

judokas don't pull guard as much as bjj fighters when they get on the ground. that's what rousey did vs. carmouche which got her in a bad position, but at the same time, she got out. a lot of wrestlers have that habit as well. that's part of the escape defense because not all wrestlers and judokas like continuing on the ground.

at the same time, wreslers do a great job of sustaining dominant positions when they're on top and judo fighters are more explosive and faster w/ submissions imo.

Interesting. Bit worrying she lost to Goldfish face, but it's impressive she didn't tap I guess, at least we know she's tough as nails :dunno:

And yeah, Rousey's standup is horrible, for that reason alone she is far from unbeatable. Hopefully women catchup soon in regards to well roundedness, and Rousey just becomes a name opponent :kidcool:

That's the thing. Skill wise, women's MMA is about equal to the UFC in it's early days. There aren't really any well rounded fighters, and very few who are elite at any one thing. Right now Rousey is Royce Gracie and the rest of the sport is Keith Hackney.

I think it's a little better than early UFC days.

That was exactly my line of thinking, it does remind me a bit of the early UFC days with Ronda being Royce, and the others not being good/well rounded enough to compete.

It's much better. If Rousey is Royce, who was the male version of Megumi Fujii?

Fujii was arm barring bitches when Ronda was still in diapers.

And Gina Carrano was a well-rounded fighter 5 years ago. I think the Gina that fought Cyborg would be a helluva tough match for Ronda.

Because of the early UFC, women got a huge head start and didn't need the same long evolution curve.

How was Carrano well rounded? I mean compared to Ronda maybe but she was basically a good not great striker whith not much else.

I don't know. I just think a former pro Muay Thai fighter with a brown belt in BJJ creates a relatively well-rounded fighter.

And she was certainly well-rounded in the context of this conversation about a comparison to the one-dimensional fighters of the early UFC.

Plus she beat up dudes in 'Haywire'
