De Gale has something that only Andre Ward and Floyd Mayweather have today that i can think of - proficiency in every aspect of the sport. Leading, counter punching, defence, offence, on the outside and on the inside and in deciding and controlling range. And lightning fast setting speed to boot. He'll look consistently excellent & dominant against every style of fighter out there just like they have, wait and see. It's about more than talent, it's about versatility/adaptability.

    And yeah I love Guzman.

Guzman KO 2. Best 140lber there is if he decides to campaign there, IMO.

Hut, I pick every top 140 pounder over Guzman.

Guzman is average at world level, he got an absolute gift over Funeka in the first fight.

Bradley would absolutely school him, Devon would beat him, Maidana would beat him, even Khan would.

If I ever meet Jim Watt in the street Im gonna shit in my hands and throw it at him. Every line of his commentary sounds like a bad mother scolding an abused child.

Fair enough. I think Guzman is a scrub, I can't stand him.

How much do you want to bet on Guzman against Khan, Maidana, Bradley or Alexander?

He's a festering mess of an individual. If him and Maggy died on the same day I don't know what I'd raise my glass to first.

Best prospect of the last ten years and that head and shoulders above the rest?? I think he's very good but not not that much better than the rest (Ward, Gamboa...).

And you guys have to take into account who he beat. Paul Smith lost to fucking Steven Bendall a guy who was obliteraded in 3 by Sebastian Sylvester - he looked good today and got him out of there eventually but the odds didn't move all that much in that fight up until the 5th, 6th round so it wasn't like he pulled a Jones-Hall on him or anything.

Also if Guzman loses to Funeka who isn't very good to begin with - how can you pick him over all 140 pounders Hut, i mean he barely scraped by Soto and Barrios of all people - he was also again shamelessly overweight this time he isn't really professional - i mean you can't just go and say your money will be on him, we need some explanations here...

I agree Roy. He barely beat Soto and Barrios, and the first fight with Funeka was a clear robbery, Funeka got fucking jobbed. he beat the crap out of Guzman.

I think Hut Hut has gone mad.

Not only would the top guys beat Guzman, he wouldn't even be competitive with them.

Hut I am with you 10000000% on this. DeGale is a special, special fighter. Best prospect I've seen by a country mile. Cookys cousin is the bees knees, yes indeed

DeGale will prove to be better than Calzaghe. I'm a Joe fan as well, but Cookys cousin has every single tool. This guy is the most exciting prospect I've seen since I've been following boxing.

Yes, Degale was brilliant. Such talent. Tore Smith apart. Looking forward to his future fights.

Hut should go on the DeGale bandwagon methinks. 160-175 is going to have some great fights down the line.

Did I say Bellew was better? :giggle: I don't think I did and know too well now that he certainly is not as good as chunky.

    Bellew's fight was quite entertaining.

DeGale/Groves should get it on, then DeGale can concentrate on more pressing matters.

DeGale batters Groves with the ref intervening, saving Groves from a severe beating.

    More bitterness from Warren.

"DeGale The Best Fighter I Ever Signed"

Just wait for it.........2 years from now DeGale will branch out on his own and...Gavin Rees will be the best fighter Warren ever signed.

"Frank Warren has been three decades in the business and claims James DeGale may be his best fighter yet. This is the startling verdict of the promoter who nurtured Prince Naseem Hamed and Amir Khan, among others, after DeGale won the British super-middleweight title in just his ninth professional fight. Warren does not rule out DeGale fighting for a world title by the close of the year.
    "

Yeah you fucking gobshite, he also signed Joe Calzaghe who retired undefeated, never mind Amir "Gone in 59 Seconds" Khan.

    DeGale is better than both.

And I am big fans of both.

    DeGale is the truth. Realise.

He was fat as a kid and his dad took him to the boxing gym to lose weight initially, and it was discovered he had a natural talent for the sport. He kept the moniker though.

I like your style Slice. :kidcool:

I've been watching plenty of interviews of DeGale lately and of his pro fights and am becoming a bigger fan of both his personality and boxing ability.
I knew little of him a while back, but certainly know now just how good he is. He's certainly one for the future and is going to be recognized as one of the best from these shores.

To top it off, his cousin plays for QPR (with well over 100 club appearances - so a legend), and DeGale himself is a QPR fan. Gotta fuckin' love it.
