Hut never goes OTT, that would be me again with the Calzaghe comment :: Although I can see why you guys would think I'm being OTT, I don't feel I am, time will tell I guess. I think you're also underrating his speed Mex, he's a damn fast fighter. But still, this is what makes boxing so great to follow... ...Slice always being right :shadow: ::
Slice, wasn't that you was absolutely sure Kevin Mitchell would easily beat Katsidis? If so, i was stupid enough to believe in your confidence, and ended up losing a lot of money. :nono:
Umm....:scared2: :: to be fair that is one of the two truly terrible calls I've made following boxing, the other being Hamed-Barrera. Sorry to hear you put your faith in that one bro, it won't happen again :: ray:
I forgot to get back to you on this Hoopster. Gavin is a great talent, obviously. However Farnell hasn't really developed him, every time I see the kid its right jab, right jab, straight left, repeat. He has so much more to offer than what I've seen. Watch the fight on the Mitchell-Katsidis undercard and you'll see what I mean. He's doing it all the time against these bums without developing, when DeGale was having these types of fights you could see him working on something new every time, which is what you're MEANT to be doing. Sure it might make you look disjointed and awkward at times, but you're not going to lose these fights so why not work on stuff? Gavin is just doing the same shit and blowing these guys away, it's about the bigger picture. DeGale realised that, Frankie hasn't, and more worryingly Farnell hasn't either. He needs a better coach to get him reaching his true potential.
Gavin does need to get rid of Farnell to progress 110%. I'm concerned to a point that under Farnell when Gavin meets better opposition they'll suss him out due to the repetitious style he brings to his fights, but I still remain confident he can adapt well when required. I was looking back on the Gavin vs Tait fight and can see where you're coming from, but believe he's accurate, has punching power and attempts to be the aggressor which is not always a bad thing. He's got alot of potential alright. He's also not as flat footed as I initially thought and believe he is pretty mobile on his feet. The standard of opposition Gavin has faced so far have been mediocre and have just watched a clip of Gavin's probable next opponent Dean Harrison and wasn't impressed. He's another mediocre opponent in waiting and don't expect him to trouble Gavin whatsoever. Gavin will be all over him like a rash. For Gavin as a boxer to improve, you're right slice, Farnell has to go.
Well lots of things. For openers Carl really only came into his own after the Pascal fight, and then he had to fight Taylor, and then Super 6 started. But besides, even if there was no Super 6, the fact that Bute was a Canadian attraction and Froch was popular in Nottingham only really wouldn't have made for Froch vs Bute being a great fight. Besides, the fact that Bute is taking on Magee now- having fought Jesse "Got no bread for beer" Brinkley in his last fight shows you just how serious Bute is about taking real tests.
Bute is a certified fanny. He has offered a place in the Super Six but refused so he could concentrate on fighting bums whilst the best in the division wiped each other out. And it has worked- Boxing Monthly have him ranked at number one at 168 because he hasn't lost and he has beaten some stiffs... MTF :bears:
In Butes defence {and I am a noted knocker of Bute} I would say that his methodology is not exactly rare- Haye is marking time waiting for the Klits to get old and simultaneously making claims about retiring any minute now any minute now any minute now Bute has been clever enough to make the most of the fact that the Candians would attend the opening of an envelope as long as the envelope is opened by a Canadian who wins.
Yea that's great. Unfortunately for him the best name on his record is Michael fuckin Jennings :: As I said, khan has bigger fish to fry such as a unification fight with the Bradley Alexander winner, why is he going to waste his time going up a weight to take on a guy who couldn't sell out Doncaster leisure centre?
I agree. Khan has never been interested in fighters who can match him for size and speed and he has never been interested in fighting the Best of British so why should he start now?
First it was "he will never fight a puncher", so he fights one, now it's "he will never fight someone bigger" come on mate you can do better than this. Brook brings fuck all to the table. This is the first time I've seen a fighter get criticised for not fighting domestic level fighters when he's taking on the worlds best in his own division ::
If I was Khan I'd trade in my entire boxing career for one taste of Kelly brook's sweet fish. Aaaauuuhhh yeeeee
