Foreman made more money off of that than his whole boxing career... One of the smartest moves ever

You mean Big George didn't build a prototype in his garage or something?

Yeah, now the George Foreman Grill is so synonymous with cookware that's it is essentially a brand and he no longer needs to market it nearly as much...but at the time I remember seeing George's lovable mug everywhere doing promotion for that thing.

It helped a lot that George really did look like a giant teddy bear the time...inherently likable and everybody got one...it wasn't until later that they actually found out it was a really just a good grill.

It's kind of weird, wasn't early Foreman really an ornery prick?

Maybe it was the hair that made him evil.

That Foreman grill is fucking great. Foreman promoting it was good, but the fact that it actually was an awesome product is why it sells so well.

What do you find yourself using more, your Foreman grill or your Wilfred Benitez panini maker?

You know, some people say he never really changed and was still an ornery prick. He just learned how to put on a face the public liked. I can't say for sure, personally.

Either way, it worked. Hard to imagine young George scowling his way to millions in grill sales

He's kind of like Tyson. A big, intimidating, mean dude with a chip on his shoulder, who mellowed a lot in his later years.

Why the fuck is everyone firmly wedged up Schaefer's arse, when he is as much to blame for the GBP - Arum fewd as Arum?

People act like Arum is the antichrist, and Schaefer is the saviour of boxing. They are as bad as each other.

    It's Oscar's company FFS

If Schaefer wanted to build his own company, why the fuck didn't he start "Swiss Banker Promotions" back then instead?

Who knows if a Schaefer only company would have even got off the ground without Oscar's name and face attached. GBP got off the ground quickly, and Oscar must have had a significant amount to do with that.

Delahoya was crucial in the start up. i agree. because HBO was catering to his demands for fight dates for his shows. he had the leverage back then of allowing them to distribute his last few PPVs. that is it though. after he retired he lost all leverage and schaefer is the one who built/maintained the company as one of the top two promotional outfits around. all the fighters know this, the networks know this. delahoya is useless to the game of boxing promotion aside from being a bankroll for someone who knows what theyre doing.

    SBP would shit on GBP

Oscar De La Hoya is bi-sexual. But it's 2014, that's no reason to dislike him. I've always just disliked him for being a phony.

Oscar SURE DID try to emulate SRL. I guess once he realized he could never be as good a fighter as Leonard, he figured he could at least try to do more coke, and suck more dick.

I think if DLH was gay, pictures would have surfaced by now. He likes women. All these photos are taken with women by women.

or maybe he is just likes the how it feels. Considering the pleasure zones in that area intensify an orgasm, it's not unlikely that he wants it.
