Of course he wouldn't have an answer. Kind of hard to have an answer when nobody is asking any question.

No, he doesn't, and never did. If he did, he wouldn't have been able to hunt down Hide inside of 2 rounds.

I don't mind people not liking him, or his style, or whatever, but there is no need to make thinks up.

Frankenstein, by the way, only moved forward.

Don't you just love how the brain-damaged ramblings of a guy who never faced Lennox Lewis can be used to glibly undermine the achievements of a guy who did?

    America! Fuck yeah!

:egypt: Not to mention only throwing arm-punches while concussing guys and breaking bones in their face.

One thing people never take into account is that, years before he hit 30, Vitali had already suffered two major, potentially career-ending injuries, {to his shoulder and back} and then another one in 2005 when his knee gave in.

For a 40 year old dude with 3 major injuries behind him, he moves pretty good. For a 6'8" 245lb guy with 3 major injuries behind him, he's a fucking ballerina.

    <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/ea0knkUIqZM?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/ea0knkUIqZM?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>

As I say, I don't mind people not liking the guy but let's not make shit up either. He moved just fine.

Vitali is a far more effective mover than Bowe ever was.

Vitalis never beaten a breathing rival in his life.

Bowe IS over-rated, but hes damn sure better than Vitali in his (rare) best form. Neither man could miss the other if they fought with blindfolds on, but Bowe is definitively the greater attacking boxer. In-fighting, punching power, the jab, handspeed, finishing ability...Bowe, Bowe, Bowe, Bowe, Bowe.

    An 8-4 decision, 9 outta 10 fights.

And if Vitali actually did slip Bowe's punches, he'd do it in all wrong style

As you can attest Ive made a point of in the past, I like him just fine. Ive said, and believe, we need more boxers who are such gents outside the ring, and fewer scumbags like Corrales, Tyson, and, yes, Bowe as well.

I just believe him to be immeasurably over-rated.

As for, "making things up," Im not the one who mentioned Vitali and achievements in the same sentence. LOL.

Hes faced ONE fighter roughly on a prime Bowes level, ever, in an out-of-shape Lennox Lewis.

Howd he fare slipping punches there?

Bowe wasn't on Lewis level. If he was he wouldn't have been afraid of him.

And Vitali made Lewis miss plenty, if he didn't, the fight would have ended in the 3rd or 4th round.

    Disagree.

Vitali is awkward, horrible style asthetically, but it's effective. He'd be bigger than Bowe, tougher and would have enough power to hurt and stop him. His stamina woul dalso matchup well with Bowe's.

    I'd pick Vitali.

As I say, I'm not sure what it is about Vitali that the mumbled-jumbled blurtings of a retired fighter can shine such a spotlight on Vitali.

Vitali is shit and he lost to an old, out of shape Lennox Lewis. A prime Bowe would have chewed him up and shit him out.

Stand close enough to any of the white supremacist idiots here saying otherwise, and you'll be able to smell Vitali's asshole on their breath.

    "out of shape Lennox Lewis".

....who was "out of shape"??? The guy who spent 8 months on the sidelines with the rotator cuff injury? Or the guy who spent another 4 months out with a back injury, or retired for 4 years with a knee injury??? Who was "out of shape"? The first dude who took the fight on 10 days notice or the other dude who took the fight on the same 10 days notice????????? Would Lewis, bearing in mind that he was "Old and out of shape" have done any better of a job on Kirk Johnson {the guy who got the 2 months notice} than Vitali {the guy who got the 10 days notice} did???

Lewis was that bit older and that bit more out of shape by the evenings end. He wanted no part of a rematch. If Pacquaio is to be called on PED's because he forgoes a $50m payday then Lewis must be called too for walking away from a $20m payday vs Vitali, easy money that it was.

"PRIME" Bowe. Another vaguely defined ambiguous concept. Guy's prime was like a comebacking comedian. One night only.

So your defense of Vitali amounts to "Vitali is better than Kirk Johnson?" Do you think "better than Kirk Johnson" is enough to beat Lewis in his top form? I'd say it's not, since it wasn't enough to beat the fat old Lewis we saw that night in 2003.

I see Vitali piling up the points early... I just question how his face would hold up against another guy who would surely hit him hard and often. It wasn't just the eye cut vs. Lewis... Vitali was totally busted up through six rounds.

Would have been a great fight.

Also, gents, don't let anyone lie to you... Bowe was past his best by the time he fought Golota.

    When was Bowe's prime????

Bowe is like one of those elements they make in a laboratory.

    It has a half-life of nano-seconds.

    It's hard to pin down.

    :scratcher:

Bowe, by the way, had ONE FRACTION of the raw power and strength of Lennox Lewis.

Riddick Bowe. Shot by Hamburgers at age 24

Bowe would not be reaching in with A FRACTION of the same clout of Lewis. There's a reason he stayed the fuck away from Lewis and had his camp make up all sorts of allegations and BS. Lewis would have beaten him and he knew it.

And Vitali was in the shape of his life? With 2 injuries behind him and 10 days prep? Yeah I can see how that might be as good as it gets for him. That and the fact that Lewis, who must have been a slow thinker, spent the next 12 months deciding that, no, he couldn't get back into the same insane shape he had in his youth, for example, in the Briggs or Mavrovic fights, and that he might as well pack it in.

Let's not muddy the waters. None of this is a question of good stoppage/bad stoppage or a question of who would have won if it had gone on etc etc.....it's a basic challenge to the conventional, convenient wisdom which posits that Lewis was on his last legs and Vitali was at the peak of his powers.

Bowe's prime was quite short. The guy didn't take care of himself... that's on him, but it doesn't change the facts.

    "Fat old Lewis".

Was he Sam Peter fat, or was this some new, sort of "convenient" fat???

Let me ask you something........who do you think was more disabled? Lewis by 10lbs of fat or Vitali by 10 days notice for the biggest fight of his life, a rotator cuff injury that kept him out of the game for 8 months and a back injury that kept him out for 4?

Tell me when it was. I'm fucking eager to know when his prime was. Next thing nobody will know when he was born or where he was from.

Golota had him fucked the minute Riddick found he couldn't out-jab him. It has nothing to do with weight loss. This isn't straw-weights we are talking. It's not Roy dropping 25lbs of lean tissue and damaging himself neurologically.

Golotas jab more than Riddicks flab caused problems. Animal Farm, baby.

Lewis showed up above 250 lbs for two fights in his entire career. One of those times, he got knocked out. The other time he was lucky, because he was facing a shit fighter.

Let's use a sliding scale then for Riddick:

    1. In Shape But Green.

    2. In Shape and Ready.

    3. At His Best.

    4. Out of Shape.

    5. Really out of shape.

    6. Past his best.

    7. Shot.

Take each of those categories and apply them to Riddicks career.

    Then do them with Vitali.

Lewis wasn't just disabled by fat, he was also diminished by age. He was 38 years old when he fought Vitali, who was 32. 32 is young for a HW.

I dunno wtf you're going on about with Vitali being on the sidelines for 8 months, he'd fought Larry Donald like six months before he fought Lewis.

He was out for 8 months after the Byrd fight. It wasn't inactivity I was highlighting, it was an injury that took 8 months to heal. Those usually don't do a damned thing for a mans career, especially considering the nature of boxing. A rotator cuff basically ended Buddy McGirts career.

If we are talking disabled, then I want to know, honestly, what effects those injuries, cumulatively and individually, could have had on the man by the time he faced Lewis.

I say, in that regard, that he was an older fighter than his years and that a record of serious injury must surely have counted as much against him as the 250lbs did to 6'5" Lewis.
