Same can be said for Floyd.

I'm a Mosley fan and want Shane to win for obvious reasons...I've said all along...I have no interest in seeing Mayweather-Pacquaio. If Floyd wins, we have to live with his mouth. If Manny wins, we have to live with Freddy's mouth.

Roach is a fucktard. When he said that "Hatton was not all that good" I had to finally dismiss the man as a subject for scientific research. He has the brain of Terry Schiavo.

I've suspected that James Toney had brain damage for a few years now. After reading this I no longer have doubts.....

Have you lost your natural mind. That's the biggest non-heavyweight matchup in history

You're a Mosley fan but you're not a BOXING fan. :nono:

Manny Steward knew Floyd and the Mayweathers and he's got a similar position.

To the contrary. there's no reason the fight shouldn't have been made and as a result it'll be a circus event rather than an actual fight.

Didn't we learn anything during the last "biggest non-heavyweight fight ever?"

    It was a shit fight.

To be clear. I'd settle for Clottey beating Pac. Even if Mosley beats Mayweather and Pac wins...Mosley vs Pac is a better fan friendly fight. two guys whose motive is to fight...not coast.

To use a music reference, Madonna has sold more records than the Beatles...doesn't make her a better artist.

Has his head actually grown or was this pulled from someones arse?

If we're talking about his face filling out I'd attribute that to weight gain but if the above is true, it's an interesting point.

    Remedial Math

Thank you, Fighter, for creating my NEW favorite thread of all-time!

First it was a quarter trillion! Yes, more than the GDP of 85% of the countries in the world! In fact, Manny would make in one fight 166% of the GDP of his entire country! He could BUY the Philippines baby! He could pay for everyone in the country to be off work for a year and a half just out of his bank account! The ultimate party! He would be a shoo-in for president!

Then, it was soberly corrected to a quarter billion. Good call. $250 million, eh? So let's see, for the winner to take $250 home, how many PPVs would they need to sell at $50/per?

    $250M / $50 = 5 Million

OK... so the most PPVs ever purchased for a fight was 2.15 million.. so Manny/Floyd would MORE THAN DOUBLE Oscar/Floyd in PPV buys? Do you really think so? Five million people would buy the fight?

I think that's totally unrealistic, but let's just imagine that it actually happens, and in an event which defies probability and logic, Floyd/Pac sells five million PPV buys. Gross $250 million.

Who pays promoters? Site fees? Employees? PPV network talent, staff, sanctioning fees, everybody from corner men to agents to lawyers to god-knows-who? Will they ALL agree to work for FREE that night, too? Fighter, would that PROVE they were REAL workers? To agree to work for FREE like Floyd should do should he lose? Bob Arum does pro-bono promotion, hey? Invests a few million in capital and comes away in the red? That would PROVE he was a REAL promoter, hey?

Basing this roughly on Tyson/Lewis doing $106M and Tyson getting maybe 20% of that (which was high), it follows that in order for the winner to take home a QUARTER BILLION dollars, the fight would have to sell:

    $1,250,000,000 / $50 = 25 MILLION PPV BUYS

Meaning Pac/Floyd would have to sell MORE THAN TEN TIMES what Oscar/Floyd sold in order for the winner to take home a quarter billion dollars.

Now, if you are so excited about this offer even though you scarcely understand it, then answer me this:

Why would it be that Freddie Roach, knowing that agreeing to random PED testing would make the fight, instead actually prefers to offer winner-take-all, risking working for nothing as long as his guy doesn't have to get drug checked?

So basically, Freddie is so confident in his PED untested guy that he would risk life-changing money for he and his fighter... but is so apprehensive about his PED tested guy would not give even 1% during negotiation while random drug testing was present?

You seem to understand caps so WAKE UP.

I don't know where you're from or what you have posted before. But I'm from the East Coast USA. Here PPV HD are $65.95. One could easily charge $75 for Pacquaio-Mayweather and do 3.3 million buys.

Now one thing I know how to do well is make MONEY deriving from MONEY. That's $247,500,000!

Pacquaio is an INTERNATIONAL superstar. How many million buys from other countries like Britain and the rest of Europe, Australia, Brazil, Phillipines, Japan is anyone's guess but a CONSERVATIVE estimate of 2 million would generate an additional $150,000,000! That's close to $400,000,000. If each FIGHTER signs for 25% of revenue including live gate, then Mayweather could go home with... drum roll please....$200 million. Pretty close to a quarter BILLION.

All the miniscule details and personnel involved with the fight is Top Rank, GBP and the Commission's responsibility.

What ever Mayweather would be making he would have the opportunity to DOUBLE his income for one fight. No, THE fight.

Roach is giving him the best INCENTIVE to retreat on his 14 days random testing prior to the fight. Note: They are not saying no random testing at all but to establish guidelines as to not disrupt Pacman's self perceived strength or his training regimen.

What Mayweather needs to consider is that enough money to risk being KNOCKED OUT for? As his adviser I would turn down the offer. SIGN the contract and go home win or lose with $100 million, but FEAR clouds judgement hence Olympic testing demands BEYOND what the governing bodies request. Result: No fight and Mayweather lives to fight another day.

It depends on the way you look it. That's how much Mayweather is giving up for failing to go up on the number of days. That's how much Pacquaio is giving up to come down on the number of days. Who loves money more? Pacquaio or Mayweather?

Bullshit. The average buyrate for Floyd/Oscar was $55. Your numbers are inflated and unsupported based on historical evidence. Do some research before you try your hand at math. If you sell 10 tires a day at $50/each and then you raise the price to $75/each, does that mean you will make more money? Maybe you would sell less tires? Look that up.

Next, let's look at 3.3 million buys. Who is a bigger draw - Oscar or Manny? ODH has the all-time career record for PPV buys ever, surpassing even Mike Tyson, including multiple single event records. Manny's biggest PPV fight was against Hatton (who you could also argue brought the bulk of the buys due to intensely loyal fanbase) at about 1.6 million buys. Does anyone doubt that if ODH/Hatton was made a few years ago it would have far surpassed 1.6M buys? Anyhow, let's now take a common opponent in Floyd, who brings the same fanbase to the table as he did in the ODH fight. Maybe less as he faded away a bit after retirement.

Let's say ODH fans brought in 60% of the PPV buys for Oscar/Floyd. Probably more, but let's just estimate. That's 1.3M buys. Now let's say Pac brings 60% of the buys to Floyd/Pac. To do 3.3M buys and at your unrealistically and unsubstantiated buy rates Pac would need to bring in 2M buys. That's 54% and 700,000 MORE BUYS THAN OSCAR COULD BRING IN DURING HIS BEST PPV EVER. That's not even mentioning that Floyd fans would also have had to grow by 54% since fighting Oscar, which is also complete and utter bullshit.

Justify your claims on buyrate and total buys using historical data, or shut up. Just saying "Manny/Floyd would sll 3.3 million buys as $75 each" is totally without merit. Back off your claims, you're wrong.

Your diatribe on international sales is again MADE UP and unsubstantiated. Justify your outrageous claims or back off. You are predicting numbers that even the promoters of this fight don't dare to touch. The numbers those with bocing knowledge have tossed around based on historical data are about $20M net per fighter.

On the bolded paragraph, thanks for dismissing the people who take 80% of the gross for a fight. You are either purposefully being obtuse or you're ignorant. I'll repeat what I said before. EVEN AT YOUR INFLATED BUY RATES AND BUY NUMBER, EVERYONE BUT THE FIGHTERS WOULD HAVE TO WORK FOR FREE FOR ANYONE TO GET CLOSE TO $250M. Withdraw your claims, this thread is bunk.

Lord almighty, get off it and wake up. Read Kauki's thread on Roach's comments. NO RANDOM TESTING, PERIOD, UNDER ANY CONDITIONS. You're wrong, wrong, wrong again. Your whole post is misinformed, made up garbage. Roach says no random (Olympic style) testing, or no fight, period.

Last time I will address this. NOBODY IS MAKING $100M DOLLARS OFF OF THIS FIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In order to do that, both fighters would have to make roughly 5 TIMES what the biggest purse a fighter EVER made was. STOP SAYING THIS TO BOLSTER YOUR FAILING ARGUMENT. Maqnny made $12 million in his biggest fight EVER, How the fuck will he make more than 20 TIMES THAT in a Floyd fight??

Manny is passing up $20-$30 million in order to ensure he isn't tested for PED's, and Floyd is giving up $20-$30 million in order to ensure his opponent gets tested for PEDs. It's that simple, stop making up crap to re-frame this argument. I am not particularly happy with Floyd and his general wariness of good fighters, and I am not particularly happy with Manny for his obvious attempts to get away with using PEDs. But any way you look at it, this thread is complete crap.

To put my money where my math is, I will bet you, Fighter, $1000 USD that if the fight is made, neither individual fighter nets $250M dollars. If you believe your post, let's email, I have a grand I could afford to lose should pigs fly. Let me know.

I think Floyd-Manny is a bigger fight than Oscar has ever been involved with. 3.3 might be inflated, but this sure as hell will outsell Oscar-Floyd, IMO. But I agree with the rest of what you've posted.

Whilst I actually agree with most of the sentiment and content of your posts in this thread (apart from your usual PED assertions), it is actually interesting to think of how well the fight would sell internationally.

In the UK at least, Mayweather fights on PPV. That might not sound like much to US fans used to every fight being a PPV fight, but in the UK it is pretty rare for boxers to be pay-per-view. In fact, I can't think of any other non-UK boxer (except maybe Tyson) who was PPV here.

I don't know how well the Floyd-JMM did in the UK (and I've just spent half an hour trying to find out :bangh:) but he'll almost certainly do better than, say, Amir Khan, who is a PPV disaster over here (the Kotelnik fight drew 35,000 compared to, say, the Haye fight with Valuev, which did 800,000).

Manny's fight with Hatton was on UK PPV and did reasonably well, with most circulated figures at the time citing over a million buys. That's big numbers, but probably a reflection of Hatton's popularity here rather than anything else and certainly down on the estimated 2-2.5 million UK PPV's some quoted the Hatton-Mayweather fight as having done.

Manny's fight with Cotto was screened live on SKY Sports here, at 3am, which is something of a rarity now that Setanta has gone under. You have to bear in mind that boxing genrally is doing well in the UK but TV networks don't seem to want to know right now. ITV have pulled out and Setanta went broke trying to give broad boxing coverage. Even a higher profile guy like Carl Froch has hardly been on TV lately (the Taylor win was not broadcast by any UK broadcaster live, with ITV showing a 24-hour delayed repeat, for example), so for any fight not featuring a British fighter to be picked up and shown live here at that time represents solid drawing power in the UK.

There is no doubt IMHO that Manny and Floyd, simply by virtue of their respective wins over the UK's most famous and popular boxer of the last fifteen years (Hatton), are as big a draw as foreign boxers could possibly be in the UK. I'd be very, very surprised if a Floyd-Manny fight did any less than half a million PPV's here.

Floyd and Pac are BOTH much bigger stars than Oscar was in the UK, mainly because of the Hatton fights. Together I'd imagine this fight could do close to 1m here. Add that to 2m in the US and we might be up towards 3m.

Look, standard deviations, averages, expectations are just that. A special event comes around once in a long time and blows those stats right out of the water until the norm is no more. There is business as usual then there is Pacquaio-Mayweather.In order for these numbers to come to fruition both camps have to compromise, but I have a feeling that engaging Floyd in negotiations will only be APPEASEMENT comparable to the world with regard to Hitler prior to WWII. He'll find a way OUT of the fight to never face Pacquaio unless he see things that could confirm and ASSURE a victory over Pacman.Funny how people are always coming to me with bets that give me very long odds  I respectfully DECLINE.

Oscar is practically unknown here outside of 'hardcore' boxing circles. A couple of people I know are aware that he is a promoter, but that is because they are gamblers with a general interest in most sports.

I wanted to suggest that Floyd-Manny would do a million PPV's here, but because I can't find the Floyd-JMM numbers I'd only be speculating really. I'd like to know what Floyd did without Hatton to help his sales here.

Sorry I assumed you knew what the most common symptom of HGH was, the increasing arch's on the highest points of his eyebrows is the most obvious give away,.. if you look at the black and white photo from somebody suffering with Acromegaly, in his case a genuine pituitary abnormality of some sort, you can see the areas that enlarged are the same features that have 'grown' on Pacquiao in recent years.
