Roberto Duran just wasn't very good

Agree.

Duran gets licked by a lot of people whose opinion I respect, but I think he is very overrated. And I base this as much on watching his fights as the things you mention. He just has too many losses against mediocre fighters.

I think Duran is licked by people who like fighters like Toney and Holyfield. Guys with excellent wins, shit losses, but excuses for the losses.

Duran did beat the guy I rank #1 overall, Leonard, so obviously I don't think he sucks or anything, but he is nowhere near as good as he gets credit for being.
