Round by Round: Bernard Hopkins vs. Joe Calzaghe

    Joe Calzaghe 44-0 (32 Ko's)



    Round 5

    They meet in the middle of the ring..they trade jabs, Hopkins moving and slipping Calzaghe jab. Jab by Calzaghe, clinch by Hop. Jab by Calzaghe, left hook/jab by Hopkins but nothing big. STRAIGHT LEFT By Calzaghe lands hard and Hopkins come back but this time Calzaghe stop his momentum.

    Jab/right hand off the ropes by Hopkins, another right by Hopkins and he rolls away. Jab/left by Calzaghe following Hopkins against the ropes. Calzaghe LOOOOADs up with the left and missed, counter left hook off the ropes by Hopkins, Left to the head and boyd by Calzaghe.

    Jab,jab, right to the boyd by Hopkins, slapping lefts by Calzaghe, another left..

    Round 5: Calzaghe..but these rounds are clooose...:doh:

    nice left to body by calz
    nice left to face by calz one of his cleanest so far
    hop not doing anything
    one min left
    nice hook by hop
    short
    calz not putting hurt on hop..just landing more
    nice left by hop and he wins the last 10 secs clearly

    They meet in the middle of the ring...Calzaghe missing with the left, Hopkins lands some body shots. Jab/straight by Calzaghe, left to the body by Calzaghe, Hopkins thinks about clinching then backs way. Hard jabs by Calzaghe, right to the body by Hopkins, left hand by Calzaghe, they trade left hands inside and clinch.

    Hopkins smiling...Jab/left hand by Calzaghe, clinching by Hop. Right to the body by Hopkins, jab/left by Calzaghe. Counter left hook by Hopkins off the ropes. Jab/right hand by Hopkins, Calzaghe rushing in and missing with the left.

    Right to the body by hopkins, another right..but Hopkins. Right/left to the body by Calzaghe, Hopkins trying to throw back. and holds on...Cortez throws Calzaghe to the slow to get em off Hopkins..

    I don't understand the scoring of the fight anyway...

    for it to be even, Calzaghe has to have won rounds 2 3 and one other round if bernard has won 2 rounds... so, unless
    Bernard is losing, the other rounds pretty good, bernard has to be WINNING the fight...


    I don't get it...

    calzaghe would be lucky if the judges have given him more than 2 rounds @ this point.

    Round 7

    They meet in the middle of the ring...left hand by Hopkins missing with the right, and just winging a left see if it lands, STRAIGHT LEFT by Calzaghe and HOPKINS holds on. Jab,jab by both fighters, left hand by Calzaghe, counter right by HOpkins.

    Hopkins throwing one punch at a time, Calzaghe fighitng from outside, with the jab, Hopkins almost falls down trying to clinch. Left to the body/right to the body by Hopkins. Jab by Calzaghe and they clinch....HOPKINS NOT DOING SHIT THIS ROUND...Right hook by Calzaghe, left by Calzaghe, clinch by Hopkins on the ropes. Jab/left by Calzaghe, nothing big, but Hopkins not doing a thing.

    Calzaghe traps Hopkins in a corner but misses all his punches, Jab,jab by Calzaghe, Jab/left by Calzaghe, counter by Hopkins off the ropes and CALZAGGHE STUN a bit...almost goes down again...

    Hops landed all the clean punches in that round again. Calz was hurt at the end too.

    nice r by hop, nothard
    nice left by calz on a 1 2
    nice hook by calz..he's not hurting hop, but winning clear
    hop did nothing that round..zilch
    huge r by hop almost got him..haha...but no..calz rd for sure

    calz up by 2 68-66 i think

    They meet in the middle of the ring...Jab/left hands by Calzaghe and clinch. Jab/right by Hopkins,and they clinch again. Hopkins moving and bouncing around using the ropes as catapult, Calzaghe missing with the left hands, RIght lead by Hopkins. STRAIGHT LEFT By Calzaghe, snaps Hopkins head back...but they clinch again. Counter left by Hopkins, right/left/right by CAlzaghe, coutner right off the ropes by Hopkins, Right hook by Calzaghe, counter right hand by Hopkins. Left hand by Hopkins. Lead right hand by Hopkins and ducks/clinches Calzaghe.

    Left hook/right hand off the ropes by Hopkins, catching Calzaghe coming in. Jab/left hand by CAlzaghe, missed, Hopkins come back with a left/right also missing...

    I think Calzaghe has come back into the fight, but I think he might be caught and taken out. He is wide open to be countered

    see, then Royjones pfp gives the round to Hopkins


    everyone else says it's calzaghe's round

    but everyone admits calzaghe was hurt in that round...

    which lets me think HOPKINS won the round and not just because of the one shot... (which is what Royjonespfp is saying)...

    with all that said.. thanks fellas... you're making it interesting!!!

    Round 7..Hopkins landed ONE PUNCH....yet he only threw about 2 of them...and that ONE was very good...

    If Hopkins was agile (& young) enough to throw in some good faints he'd really be in control...looks like he's getting tired though.

    Calzaghe 76-75 is what I have right now. He wont lose more than one more rounds IMO.
