Great fight, and with that a superstar is born unto the boxing world:cheer:

I hope Pavlik can make MW for a year or two, wipe his ass with Abraham and go up to challenge the winner of Calzaghe/Kessler in a year or two.

I love Royjonesp4p's comment, "Jermain could've won if he just let his hands go"

Ever think the jabs he was eating hurt a bit more than Ouma's:doh:

maybe, just maybe Jermain wanted to let his hands go but was shitting himself and chose not to? :dunno:

I had Pavlik winning all but the 2nd...the 5th was close but having Taylor winning the 6th means you didn't see the fight.

I watched the Latino feed btw.

Did you see what Jermain done in round 2 when he let his hands go. What made Jermain stop letting his hands go. In round 3 he done nothing at all.

I'm glad with the result. I like both guys and just wanted a decisive win one way or the other (while leaning toward hoping Pavlik would win...didn't want to see him get KO'ed in 2 thats for sure.)

But I don't really understand what happened. Rounds one and two both guys were going to war throwing heavy punches and lots of them. Taylor almost has him out in round two. He doesn't go toe to toe with Kelly again after that. He says after the fight he wasted too much energy in round 2. Could it be possible that the twenty or thirty shots he threw trying to get Kelly out of there wore him out for the rest of the night? I've never fought before and I don't want to come over as trying to act like I know something...but can that be right? Can you be in great shape and throw twenty to thirty bombs in one round and that makes you unable to throw hammers in bunches the rest of the way?

I don't know...seemed to me like if he'd have come out guns blazing in round three something different than what eventually did happen would have happened. Seemed like when they were both going for broke he was the better guy.

I don't know what planet you come from... maybe one where people have crustaceone faces and don't feel the effects of a jab? Or are Germans really that tough?

Kelly got up and held for his life. Jermain should have jumped on Kelly at the start of round 3.

I agree with this. He came out in round 3 as if round 2 never happened.

He comments after that he wasted too much energy in round 2.

Could an effort like the one in round 2 tire a guy out for the night? Should it?

Sure that shit happened after he recovered. Why let him recover when you have a guy badly hurt. Jermains handspeed clearly gave Kelly trouble when he let his hands go.

Is that gene Williams scorecard  Some rounds were close but Kelly clearly won the 1st and the 3rd. 4,5 and 6 were close.

Pavlik reminds me of Danny "Litle Red" Lopez. Lopez would get his ass knocked down in nearly every fight, but crawl off the canvas and come back to win.

    Great fight!

Thats just it Royness. Kelly never stopped touching him. Even when he was getting back in the game and not hitting with any real power he was keeping Taylor off of him by pursuing him. You know the common refraine: The best defense is an offense? By pressuring Taylor, even with less than power shots and an accurate jab, he never let Taylor set up for big punches. That is why Kelly stated that he always wanted to throw a lot of punches per a round IMO.

What you have to remember is that when you are avoidong punches it is hard to set up a big punch, and unless you are great counter puncher it is hard to counter a jab. Kelley actually won the third round if yu ask me (though I don't score fights... don't enjoy scoring).

Lets not go overboard here now. Kelly beat Taylor, thats cool, but that dont mean he could hang with one of the best middleweights ever like Monzon.

I couldnt see Pavlik beating a prime Toney, or McCallum, much less Monzon.

But still, Pavlik is the TRUTH!

Ummm....isn't that what you are supposed to do when you get KD'd? :dunno: Hold on, get your legs, get your head, last the round. I am sure Jermain would've tried to do the same had he not gone nighty-night.

Jermain should have done this, he should have done that. He should have not got his ass knocked the fuck out but that one he seemed to manage.

Yeah he won the 3rd big. Jermain shouldn't have let him recover. He should have jumped on him and finished the fight. Look at how impressive he was when he let his hands go for the KD. Kelly got up hurt and Jermain should have tried to finish him.

Yeah sure hold on. But if you score the KD and the guy is badly hurt wobbling and shit you gotta swing for the fences. jermain got held then stood off Kelly and let him recover. Jermain fought like Zab Judah.

He has more power than Monzon had, thats it. Everything else, Monzon did better. Monzon had a light years better defense, and chin especially.
