I don't think he "outboxed" Taylor...

But as expected, his jab offset Taylor's much more than people thought -- Kelly's is longer, straighter and harder...and the timing is disruptive.

    Peace.

Taylor showed alot of balls IMO. But his lack of craft is what really was the difference here. In round 2, Taylor should have FINISHED Pavlik. But he's too wild and his sloppy technique causes alot of his shots to lose alot of power.

Pavlik won like I thought. But I do believe that if Taylor corrected a few strategic errors, he could win a rematch.

Taylor could hit Pavlik anytime he wanted he just never let his hands go.

But that's just it...he can't correct them. 28 fights later, bro, and he still has them. He is who he is....

And Pavlik is a sloooow starter - but he parries better and has a bit more skill than he gets credit for (though he's by no means a sound textbook boxer).

    Betcha the rematch doesn't happen.

    Peace.

He let them go more than he has in his last 4-5 fights....

    I don't think that's the issue, honestly.

    Peace.

At face value his technique LOOKS sloppy, but in reality his skill and timing is far better than people give him credit for, and he showed it tonight.

What was that rematch ABOVE 160 b.s.? Sounded like somebody was already trying to make excuses for a potential Taylor loss (trouble making weight, etc).

    Yeah....but it's well-known both guys "struggle" to make 160.

However -- Taylor looked in great shape at 159, and looked better than I've seen him in some time in the ring.

very dramatic fight that was. great KO.

taylor is a good offensive fighter but the dude is not very smart. i wonder if emmanuel worked on him not going against the ropes.

No, Pavlik looked huge in there. People were saying at the weigh-in that Jermain looked like the bigger fighter but in the ring Pavlik definately looked bigger and more solid.

Emmanual has worked and worked and maintained that Taylor took to it.... for a long time now. Taylor coasted, he could have lost virtually all his big fights by decision and what is scary is apparently they were getting ready to give him another fucking gift.

God bless Pavlik for putting things right in the division. Pavlok reminds me of Monzone in some fundamental respects. his defense is better than he is credited for thats for sure

And while Monzone was a little faster, neither guy is a speed demon and in both cases even if it takes a while when it arrives it is effective.

Monzon. King Carlos is my favourite middleweight ever, but speed was certainly not his strong suit either. I'd say their speed is even.

King Carlos Vs Pavlik would have been a great fight.

I think Monzon was quicker...his speed was deceptive.

Kelly can be hard to judge too, though, because he varies the speed/power on his shots...and his short punches are quicker than his usual shots.

But I think Carlos was a bit faster.

    Peace.
