Interesting to watch these prospects....you can literally see Mares learning throughout the fight.

    I'm saying.

I never liked him, going all the way back to his absurd gift decision over Lamont Peterson in the '04 Olympic Trials

Hes learning that if your opponent can take punches keep hitting him some more.

Well, I mean his adjustments in distance, clinching, pacing himself, starting to the body first....and stepping around.

That was funny though.....it reminded me of when Resto lost to Maussa and the interviewer asked him what happened. Resto said "well, he just kept on hitting and hitting and hitting..."

    Oh.

Apparently, everyone at 130 and 135 is sitting on their hands, waiting for the next guy to blink.

The WBO just ordered a purse bid for Katsidis (interim titlist) and Juan Diaz (super champ). To be honest, Juan should take the fight. There are only three fights worth taking - this, David Diaz and Pacquiao. Fights against D. Diaz and Pac will both require either dumping the WBO belt, or paying Katsidis step aside money. If he has to pay step aside money, then a David Diaz fight doesn't make sense.

I have a feeling either David Diaz or JMM are the ones left out in the cold when all is said and done. I'd rather see Juan v. David, and Pac-JMM II. Katsidis is fun, but I don't see the need for him to fight Juan just yet. Maybe he's as good as he'll get, but it seems too soon to jump that high in class, or cash out.

Close round. Decent start for Soto early. The weight could become an issue late for Guzman.

Yeah, first two are pretty interchangeable....but the bigger counters and body shots in the 2nd were for Guzman (cleaner)
