nice left by joe..kess gets some really heavy stuff off
huge uppercut by kess, but joe okay and answers back
    joe just never gets discouraged
kessler is really trying..landing a lot...even some quite hard
joe just takes them and answers
huge huge right by kessler at end and no effect...
joe outlanded him; kessler landed a lot of really big shots
could go either way...i'll say even..

    7-3-2 Calz 117-113

    116-113 Calzaghe

Kessler landed the better punches, but Joe outslapped him. He has excellent handspeed and footwork, and that´s all he needs, when he never turns over punches.

    Kessler won the 12th.

7-4-1 for Calzaghe according to my card.

But 8-4 is most likely from the judges.

Fight went exactly as I expected...

Well unsurprisingly, Double L once again picked a fight wrong.

I'd just like to say to all the so called forum experts that were oohing and aaahing over Kessler's "fundamentals" I've been telling you for months, Calzaghe is a better fighter and a tougher man.

Kessler simply wasn't as good. Calzaghe would beat him 9 out of 10.

Calzaghe showed some impressive defense and reactions tonight for a 35 year old.

By the way mIKE what happened to your bullshit anomoly that guaranteed Kessler would move to 40-0 with 30 KOs?

No one from 160 to 175 is beating Calzaghe at the moment..including Hopkins.

Pavlik (and Taylor) would get smoked!!

Pavlik is a better fighter than Kessler, and I would give him more of a chance than I gave Kessler. But yes I'd have to pick Calzaghe.

Dawson is a handful for anyone and Hopkins has a magic way of getting his style to work. Calz is the pick over Hopkins, though. Not sure if the best Dawson shows up, though.

In all seriousness, Kessler is a very good fighter, but "like I said before" I didn't know why some of you were so gahgah over him?

He looked like a basic, robotic fighter next to Calzaghe. Calzaghe is quick, crafty and strong and kessler just couldn't really do anything.

I give him credit though, he's got heart, and was still trying to KO Joe in the final round.

Pavlik would almost KOed in TWO ROUNDS by Taylor. Don't forget that. :nono:

Joe smokes him. The handspeed difference would be ridiculous.

Pavlik sits down on his punches like real fighters. Those types can´t beat a guy with great handspeed, who constantly slaps on the move. :tease:

Pav is bigger and has a higher workrate and will punch no matter what...that is the key.

This fight was at the level of Eubank Benn 2 which is a very big compliment from me.

The announcers don't get it. Kessler can beat Joe and of course he's going to want a rematch. You can't walk away from a rematch if you have the chance and you are wired like Kessler or anyone who is a legit champ.

And this is Manny Steward who has to know better.

It would indeed, and I WOULD pick Calzaghe, but Pavlik is more skillful than he seems at first glance.

He is also a master at conserving his power and mixing up his punches.

And I think he hits harder than Kessler.

No he wouldn't salaco, don't forget you just picked Kessler over Joe.

Pavlik is a better fighter, and read what Donny just said.

He does everything very well....and like I said in my prediction (though I picked Kessler close), his punch repertoire and ability to explode are very underrated and that showed tonight despite the loss.

I think cards that have Calz winning 9+ rounds are off, personally.

But he won clearly and looked great and adapated in a HUGE way to Kessler. Awesome.

It was simply that Kessler couldn't remain consistent enough in his output.

Alot of the rounds were close, IMHO.

    Great fight.

    Peace.

Kessler clearly won the 2nd, 4th and 12th round. The 1st, 7th and 10th were close rounds. HBO is nuts.
