Instead of this shit, hell yeah.

Crowd continuing to boo, though Stevens now literally picking up the pace in moving forward - though still largely unsuccessful

Scorecards are gonna be a mess on this one. Stevens ain't landing shit, but is coming forward and will get credit for it on at least one card. Dirrell is dictating the pace, but from an extremely defensive standpoint, and will get credit on another.

One of those fights where you really can't argue with anyone's scorecard.

Yeah, I've always thought Anthony was the better Dirrell.

It's unfortunate to hear that he's having to go through chemotherapy.

I feel bad for Andre Rozier (Stevens' trainer). Nice guy, and he's giving Curtis the correct advice (and keepin' it real, all the while). But, S/I/S/O.

And a rare moment where I disagree w/ Bob Papa - Rozier DID tell Stevens how to stop chasing him. He told him to start cutting off the ring, corner him and let his hands go... and Stevens still isn't listening (because he's shit)

    You are correct, Jake.
Stevens has never had the formal training on how to accomplish that.
    He does not know how.
Cutting of the ring is a difficult process to do, simply because the other fellow is not going to let you have your way.
And he is punching you and moving you at the same time if he really knows what he (or she) is doing.
Joe Louis was the best ever at "Cutting off the Ring" IMO, as he had the Great Jack Blackburn to show him how to do that.
George Foreman was second (look at the team behind him with Dick Sadler, Sandy Saddler, Doc Broadus, and Archie Moore) but was only once foiled by someone that could take the incoming in the form of the Great Ali.

isn't that an old tapeman trick? you can actually pull the leather enough to tighten the glove enough to give it less padding up front?

I know Manny talked about it and I know some here in LA say that in the old days you could basically use tape to pull the glove back enough to make the front like a rock back when they used different materials to pad the gloves not like the foam they use now.

from what I know it's a true technique. It may not work in this day of foam padding but people still practice it. Case in point the Barrera fight where you could barely see the Everlast logo.
