He did a better job of protecting himself on the inside crowding margarito up by moving forward when in close,he didnt get hit nearly as much this time around.

In the first half of the fight yeah, he did get hit more or less as much.

Cotto was doing a good job of turning and pushing, but he is awful inside, he was getting tagged in there.

Okay, but he had two good eyes in the first, 2nd, and 3rd and he lost them clearer than the 5th or 6th.

indeed, and you spatial perception is all fucked up when you only see from one eye, so Margarito landed less cleanly than in the first fight too

Cotto beat that bum like a red headed step child.

I only wish I would have gotten to see Margarito punished more

Plasterito sure is a glutton for punishment, he just loves taking a beating.

"Please doc, my eye might actually dangle out of my head by the 12th round, I want to take more punches! Please!"

    Darchyniyan fight sucked.

Agbeko/Mares was a good solid fight. Very good, not great.

Well yeah, even with loaded wraps Margarito is always going to get whipped in the first few rounds vs. Cotto. As he was coming on, his lost his vision. Good. He deserved it.

In my gut, with two good eyes, I think this fight would have had some suspenseful moments late. But like you, I think Cotto wins a decision.

If the fight would have continued, it's Cotto who would have taken the worst of it in the remaining rounds

Sure, in this fight, plasterito might have won a couple of rounds late.

But you guys are missing the crucial aspect of the fight.

Plasterito COULD see until the 6th or 7th round in this one, and by that point in the first, he'd done enough damage to Cotto for Cotto to have been worn down significantly, and for his face to be a bleeding mess.

No he wouldn't. PLasterito was still getting beaten up, taking left hook after left hook. I don't think he would have won a round.

Word...because Margarito fans/supporter/Cotto detractors will start claiming that Margarito was coming on strong and could've pulled it off in the championship rounds.

Nah, the eye looked cut and a bit fucked by that point, but closed up in the 6th or 7th.

It may be du to my shitty stream and will rewatch it when I can find a hq vid, but to me it seemed Margarito won the 9th and even buzzed Cotto just at the end

Honestly rewatch it, Plasterito was landing grazing blows, or little inside shots that didn't do much.

Cotto was hitting him with FLUSH after flush shot, I don't think he came close to winning the 9th honestly.

Early on Cotto was landing nice rights, but by that point he was mainly landing STIFF jabs and meaty left hooks.

I honestly don't think plasterito would have won any of the remaining rounds.

It has to be said though, he is one ridiculously tough fucker, he can take punishment as well as anyone I've ever seen.

I loved that Cotto clinched Margarito effectively. If he had done that shit in the first fight he would've won at least a close decision.

Was kind of frustrating Cotto wouldn't let his hands go when he had Margarito on the ropes.

Also, is it just me, or can you just see Cotto burning needed energy for the late rounds when he does all that bouncing in the ring pre fight?

Yeah, Cotto's stamina is actually pretty good, he just wastes about a 3rd of it before the fight

i thought landing the cleaner shots didnt matter? i mean you claim marquez lost a few weeks ago

cotto fought well and earned the vindication. but lets face it here, margarito was nowhere near the same guy as in the first bout and his eye was nearly shut as early as round 3. some folks here watching the fight told me it proved margarito cheated in the first fight, but i didnt get that impression at all.
