    How many punches did Margarito throw in the first fight in the round prior to when it was stopped? I wouldnt be surpised if it was 100.

    Margarito only threw 700 punches in the rematch while he threw 990 in the first fight....

    Cotto threw 430 in the rematch, while he threw over 650 in the first fight...

    I wish the fight had go on for 1 more round. Cotto was landing some great shots on Margarito. Also there are talks about Cotto vs Chavez Jr. Miguel must be careful and not allow Jr to come in too heavy fight night.

    I wish it had gone all 12....Cotto wasn't going to be stop on Saturday. In round 9 he was doing a little bit of everything, he was boxing, moving, fighting in the inside w/ Margarito, pushing Margarito back whenever they got close.

    i could copy and paste the first fight punch stat grid but couldn't paste the second one???

    Too many characters even tho there were more characters in the first fight stat grid. sorry meant to post them all in a row but then others posted inbetween.

    Maybe copy and paste them into a spreadsheet for side by side comparison

    So in the 9th round of both fights Margarito threw almost the identical amount of punches. 96 in the first fight and 98 in the second. Round 10 of the first fight he through 90 punches.

    So basically like i said, had this fight gone on as long as the first one. Margarito would have thrown the same amount of punches. The fewer punches were because the fight was shorter.

    I'm with you - I think he loaded his gloves in the first match and in many fights prior. What I would say is that Marg did land less punches. It'd be easier to correlate if he landed close to the same amount in each fight, then assess the damage to Cotto's face.

    However, Cotto looked so much significantly better in terms of damage after suffering thru two rather hellacious beatings (Marg 1+ Pac) that I think it's remarkable that he was barely marked in this match. I think it's telling. Not definitive proof, but it's enough reaffirmation for me.
