Neil may be a shitty person who goes out of his way to be an unbearable asshole at all times, but he isn't stupid

i dont really see how anyone could claim monzon was a favorite. to me, he was very boring to watch. hard to beat and one of the better middleweights ever, but still dull. obviously i never met the dude.

margarito is actually a humble and genuine guy if you have met him. any fans who have met him will tell you the same, and im sure it is why they remain fans.

since the mosley fight and he has been vilified, he has decided to play into that role. particularly in the build up to the fight saturday.

Agreed on that. Mozon was terribly dull. Effective? Yeah, big time.

Never care to rewatch any of his fights though.

was he going to bring a potentially lethal weapon into the ring with him against Mosley or not? I don;t give a shit if you personally witnessed him escorting a dozen blind, elderly nuns holding baskets of kittens across the street, he was willing to go into the ring with a deadly advantage that could have permanently injured another human being...

As I'm sure most of you know, I like aggressive fighters, attacking fighters etc.

Yet Monzon is one of my favourites, objectively he is dull, but I like his style. So simple, but so effective. A real meat and potatoes, substance over style type of fighter.

I just don;t find Monzon pretty to watch... He's probably the best middlewieght ever, but his fights are pretty dull for the most part... I could watch Arguello, Marlon Starling, Sanchez, Chavez, Olivares all day because they do stuff that just looks pretty to me... I feel kind of the same way about Duran, I see his greatness and appreciate it, but a lot of his fights are kind of dull to me, they don;t have a lot of replay value for me personally, with an exception or two here and there

I refuse to believe you're this stupid, I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt. You're no Tex Mex, I know that much.

I could meet you and SEEM like the nice, well educated, charming guy I am, then sucker punch you as you walked off and steal your money, then burn your face with cigarettes, and strip you naked, tie you to a railing, and carve my name in your forehead etc.

Superficial impressions are deceptive, don't judge a book by it's cover and all.

Some people are good at evoking a certain impression of themselves, that is often VERY different to their true character.

your favorite filipino could very well be using illegal substances that have helped him to beat the shit out of many foes. cause them brain damage, permanent facial damage, send them on a path of drug use, etc. would you do a complete 180 on him and have this same type of hate for him as you do for margarito if he failed a test in his next fight or two?

I realise there's a pretty big chance that Pacquiao is juicing, but because there's no proof, there's also a chance he isn't.

I wouldn't be surprised either way.

I would find it hard to be a fan if I found out he was definitely juicing.

If he is caught though, it obviously means he's been juicing all along, probably since the Oscar fight.

There are levels of grey in regards to cheating.

To me, putting concrete in your gloves and taking performance enhancing drugs aren't the same thing.

Have a look at Shane against Oscar, then Plasterito against Cotto, the difference is pretty clear.

Let me put it like this, after a close first fight between 2 guys that were well matched in Mares and Agbeko, in the rematch one has steroids and one has concrete in his gloves - who are you going to pick?

    concrete:rolleyes:

no it wasn't concrete, the mf had thermite in his gloves.

Get real, it was wraps dipped in a plaster of paris like substance, not exactly concrete

PEDs are in no way comparable to loading your gloves, imo. Not that using PEDs is OK or condonable, it's just not as bad as loading your gloves.

    Basically yeah.

I hate the idea of any boxer being on PEDs, I wish they didn't exist, but to compare the two is insane.

I'd much, much rather face some guy with plaster in his wrap than someone on the gear.

no it's not, but plaster is a big fucking difference from concrete. And it's you who seems to think it's no big deal to have plaster in your wrap since you exagerate the claim constantly so you can get outrage over it

WTF? So you think if Marquez and Pacquiao had a rematch, two VERY evenly matched fighters, one had plaster in his wraps and the other was on EPO or something, the guy on PEDs would win?

Canadian please, they are not even comparable.

Mosley was on EPO in the Oscar rematch, you really think he wouldn't have done any better if he had plaster inserts in his gloves? Really?

Why are you and your brother up Plasterito's arse? Plaster, concrete, who cares, the point is he loaded his gloves.

I've sparred with a guy who had a cast on his hand ( no glove, just a cast ), and in the heat of sparring, hit me with it a couple of time. Didn't hurt much more than his regular shot, ok the guy wasn't a big puncher, but still. I've seen people on the gear do things that I couldn't, naturally, do in a million year

Your example doesn't hold up, you give a TOTAL scrub who doesn't know how to fight plaster in his gloves OR steroids, and guess what - he's still a scrub.

But between 2 high level fighters that are evenly matched? You really think the guy on EPO or something is going to win over someone who has effortlessly hard, thudding shots, and can bust up the other guy's face with minimal effort?

I doubt many people would agree with you.

In a perfect world, Margarito would have been banned for life from the sport. I just take objection when he's devilised while guy's like Mosley ( of all the guy who deserved a plaster enhanced beating ) are not. Plus, I just can't see how, if the plaster made the wrap so hard, no high level trainer catched it up before. A guy like Emmanuel Steward would have been fooled from such an beginner's trick ??? I highly doubt it.
