Damn Marg has made 2 PR's quit! There has to be a rematch. We all know that DLH will not step in the ring against Marg so let's see this war again. I'll Holla 5000

Fuck that! Shane softened Cotto up from Margarito! He was thinking about that Shane fight and knew he couldn't handle that kind of pressuring attack again.

The question is why was Cotto's offense so much more effective on Shane than Margarito? Was it Margarito's reach that made the difference or was it that his chin was just better than Shanes?

Cotto's punches never buzzed or hurt Shane but they did effect him. His head would snap back, or the punches would stop him in his tracks, did this not happen with Margarito?

THis is why I give Roy so much credit cause after his brutal KO he gave his the post fight interview like a man. I hate when fighters lose and then refuse to give the post fight interviews. You win like a champion and you lose like champion. I'll Holla 5000

Well fuck whoever thinks Cotto quit...he was being smart by taking a knee so he can get out of the round and try to stage an attack...he was BEAT in that round....he couldn't even through, and his corner stopped the fight, so NO he didn't quit.
Anyway though, Margarito might not have all the skill...but man his relentless pressure and heart and chin is just unbelievable...
Props to both men...what a fight.

I think Cotto totally changed his game plan...I don't know if it would have made a difference, but Cotto did not do the body work he normally does, Margarito did and fucked him up.

It was the only way he can beat Margarito, is to go to the body, but honestly he tried a few times and couldn't do it, Margarito had his elbow tucked to his right side really well, he was redy for it, he was worried about the body, not the head.

BS. When Zab Judah did the same thing during the Cotto fight, people were saying that he was quitting too. Cotto is not immune to that perception.

    Williams-Margarito II.

Can't wait...though I doubt Arum would take that chance.

Margarito is such a tough fighter. :bears::bears::bears::bears::bears:

I watched the fight on my comp so I don't know. He just did not go to the body. He always comits to that, he might regret not going to the body.

After this beating Cotto will never be the same.

Just not enough power to hurt him. The only way Cotto beats Margarito in a rematch is if BALCO gets involved.

Hard to say. Shane has a very solid chin, but what he doesn't have his Margarito's resolve.

Mosley can take a punch, but he reacts differently. Antonio takes shots and immediately looks to answer in typical Mexican fashion.

Judah didn't quit either...taking a knee is smart as fuck, clear your head get out of the pressure so you can get rest and fight back, in no way is it quitting, just like clinching....its not quitting...
When has Cotto ever shown any quit ever? He has takin many beatings before...

And we will see how bad the damage is in the next couple of days cuz honestly I think he had his nose and cheek broke in the fight...

Cotto was punching hard enough early to stop Margarito from throwing the amout of punches he wanted to throw. Tony's left eye showed the most damage. But Margarito kept going, waiting Cotto out to the championship rounds, touching him to the body whenever he could.

Shane and Tony, both very solid chins but Cotto was always going backwards against Margarito.

He is very underrated in that category...
The reason he wasn't attacked to the body is cuz he didn't allow Cotto to do it...
And he rather take punches to the head cuz that allowed him to trade back and not stop punching....
    It worked...

Not right away. Cotto cannot fight backwards again if they fight. Plus he must attack the body. But fuck Margarito is so big.

cotto had his best success when he was running and

potshotting in the mid to late rounds. Margarito was missing a lot and cotto was potshotting him pretty good. When cotto stopped running, that's where the trouble began.

Body shots aren't what beat Shane Mosley, superior boxing skills did. Cotto came to box not war and this time the brawler won.

You guys might be being too hard on Lampley. I think the reason these guys are so biased is because HBO makes them be biased. Look at how much Leaderman used to speak the truth and where is his ass now? Fired. So don't blame Jim if he wants to keep his job, blame HBO and their stupid technique of trying to build stars over fights.

HBO probably wish their refs could control the outcome of a fight the way an NBA ref can do for a game.
