But I didn't leave it at that. I coupled it with Mayweather's shots being CLEANER - and there being more of them landed flush.

I am usually the one arguing what you are, so don't turn it around now. It's BS to say that there were rounds where neither man landed anything and Mayweather was being "given" them due to defense.

Answer the question. Name me one round where Hatton CLEARLY outlanded Mayweather with clean punches.

The answer is - there were very few, if any CLEARLY at all.

    Peace.

Nope, Floyd would destroy him at 140 also. Ricky is one dimensional. He's actually only an average in-fighter, which is really alarming when that was his whole game plan tonight.

Floyd easily blocked and slipped everything and hit him inside.

It was FLOYD doing most of the holding tonight bro, you had to see that. Hatton was pushing (which is borderline illegal too) but PBF put his arms around him.

meetthefeebles was spot on with his take, great post:clap:

BS- at 140, he has different plans and has proven he can fight with different styles and different angles. At 147, he is just fat and fights with his face.

No shame though- at least he stepped up to the plate, outclassed though he may have been. He had a shot, if nothing else...

Yep, few people probably realized it but Floyd hurt Hatton badly to the body. I think it was in round 8 or 9, but Hatton really winced after taking a combination downstairs.

I am still amazed at Floyd's resolve, edurance and ability to adapt.

MTF, come on bro...given a result and fight like that, you can't honestly think the result would be diametrically different at 140....where, btw, Floyd was FASTER and punched harder for his weight.

Hatton fights similarly....problem is it WORKS better at 140 because of the relatively smaller size of opposition, so Hatton can better leverage his strength, mauling and hand/footspeed.

And he didn't look fat tonight.

Also - yes, Hatton shows more 'versatility' at 140....but that's because he wasn't facing fighters like Mayweather.

He couldn't show that outside versatility tonight because PBF would outbox him at distance.

    Peace.

    Early, yes. No doubt.

By about round 4-5, it was Hatton's turn.

Ricky won three rounds and that was it. All teh rest were Floyd's. Ricky was the one getting tattooed in there...Floyd was just getting wrestled to death. If it was a wrestling match then sure Ricky would have been even on the cards...but this is about clean effective punching.

7-2 at the time of the stoppage was fair.

Tell me then, what could Hatton do differently at 140? Apply more pressure? What a joke. Floyd has the physical advantages and can handle the grueling pace better than Hatton. You think 5-7 pounds is going to mak Floyd more hitable or make Hatton less one dimensional?

    Please...

Exactly. Floyd was even better at 140lbs.

Agreed, but the point was, with Hatton the disparity is greater, which I do agree with. Quick and slick fighters can compete better against bigger men than forward-going bullies. That's why Dariusz Michaelczewski couldn't beat any heavyweight while Roy Jones could beat one of the best, yet at 175 their fight would have been a good one.

I do agree that PBF is too good for Hatton at any weight though. I'd say that at super-featherweight PBF was in the league of the best fighters ever

Piss off- I'm trying to be logical in the face of facts. Do you have any idea how hard that is?

Hatton fought a dumb fight tonight- he walked into far too many shots and didn't jab AT All but that does not detract from the fact that PBF is better at 147.

I cannot underestimate the difference between Hatton at 140 and 147 though. I had hoped it wasn't much, per Collazo, but it is. He loses almost ALL of his power. He has no game plan. He lose his angles and punching power, BUT...

...No, I can't see their being any difference if PBF came to 140 to play. But he won't. So Ricky can clean house again, whilst Floyd hopefully fights proper Welters like Williams and Cotto

Actually, in the cold light of morning I still expect PBF to win handily. But it would be a lot, lot closer. I cannot emphasize or explain how much of a difference those 7 lbs seem to make.

Talk about subtle things.. I've just being watching the replay of the first knockdown, over and over again. They both threw hooks at almost the same time. Floyd's right hand was chin-high while Ricky's was down near his belt. We all know which shot landed.

This is not a true post...

I've noticed a lot of you young guys need to learn how to score fights...

It's AMATURE boxing that let the person who throws the most punches win the round...

If this post were true, Ray Olivera woud be the greatest fighter ever...

This is professional boxing... there are other factors involved.

thus: 25 of 100 does not ALWAYS beat out 10 of 15...

This fight proved 2 things. The first is that it confirmed Hatton has no business fighting at 147.

The second is that Floyd is the better fighter and the difference is HUGE.

Denial is a bitch. Floyd woulda fucked Ricky up at 140 had they fought in 05 also. Hatton is a naturally bigger man than Floyd, and this wasnt his first fight at 147, so dont gimme that bullshit. Floyd is better than Hatton, PERIOD!

Hatton's a good fighter, very good in fact, but TBH he never woulda become champ in the first place had he met a younger, fresher Tszyu.

Shit, I picked Hatton too, but enough with all these lame ass excuses.

Hatton at 147 was not fat, he was cut as fuck, but yes, he's too small for that division.

But then again, Mayweather ain't no giant either.

Everybody kept on talking about the relentless pace and how Hatton was gonna do this and do that. Mayweather looked insanely calm from before the fight to inside the ring.

PBF got into Hatton's head like I said. PBF won the mental aspect of the fight just like I said he did. How do I know. Because Hatton admitted in the post-fight interview that he went to wild at first meaning that PBF got to him and he wanted to put some hurt on him. Now about people complaining about the 5lbs. Get the fuk outta hear with that bullshit. I am willing to bet that Hatton weighed more than PBF at fight night. The difference is is that PBF ain't no Zoo and he aint no Castillo. He got skills and caught fight. Good try but just not good enough. There's only one Hatton that got smacked in the face with a left hook, hit the turn buckle and then fall flat back. Wildest shit I've ever seen. I'll Holla 5000

Thats just Ricky trying to make up excuses. He ALWAYS fights wild. What makes him a quality fighter is his aggressiveness. Thats the ONLY way he had a shot was to try and maul Floyd. Had he fought a more cautious fight like Gatti tried to do, it would have been an EXTREMELY one sided fight. I do agree that Floyd got into his head though. After the 8th round the fight was as good as over. Floyd really beat his ass in that round, and you could tell when Ricky went back to his corner he had the look of "I'm fucked" on his face.

Yeah I think that was teh round when his corner and the ref were taking a very close look at him. He was definitely getting hit with way too many clean punches at that point.

All I know is that PBF hit Hatton ass in the face with so many lead rights it wasn't even funny. His damn head looked like a bobble head. Then later on in the fight he started landing the jab which was snapping Hatton's head back as well. Muzse said it best when he indicated that Hattons face looked like a mini catchers mit cause he was catching all of PBF's punches up against his face. Hattons mouth wrote a check his ass couldn't cash. This wasn't old ass Zoo who needs space to get his punches off and it damn sure wasn't an shop worn Castillo. This was knocked down of the year.

No, he, Hatton, just has an advantage by melting down and fighting guys who take punishment as well and who don't hit as hard at 140 as the opponents do at 147. Hatton manages to make 140 and then instantly balloons up.

If anything, melting down to a smaller weight takes away a bit of your power and stamina because of the dehydration, but he is facing guys who are smaller and weaker at 140. Ricky faces weaker guys at 140, and at 147 his opponents aren't as quick to succumb to his pressure, strength, and bodypunching.

Floyd started out at 130 and went all the way up to 154. Hatton manages to make 140, but he's been a much bigger fighter melting down to a smaller division for years now.

    Agreed

Hatton cannot do at 147 what he does at 140 because his advantages at the lesser weight are almost completely nullified.

One of the things last night proved conclusively is that the Collazo fight was no one-off; Hatton really DOES have no business fighting at 147.

It's not an excuse- it was me posting whilst half asleep, annoyed at the fight and drunk...

Bottom line is that Hatton is not a world class operator at 147 like he is at 140. The Collazo fight hinted at it and last night confirmed it.

Floyd beat him with room to spare last night- he was in a different class to Ricky, unfortunately.
