Key word questionable. Morales-Barrera 1 belongs there.

I'm sure Mosley's feel better bouncing off your chin. :nono:

A bit cerebral for my liking, I think Cotto had him ready to go by the 7th, then took his foot off the gas, for sure Shane came into the fight knowing he couldn't put in 12 rounds of hard graft so he adopted a right-hand-happy strategy at times. Cotto kind of stunk out the joint in the last few minutes with his running and shit, but he had done a lot of damage by then. Like I said, good fight, just a bit cerebral. Hatton can take Cotto.

hmm... so far i agree with your card (gave Shane the 2nd, though agree it was close). Shocked that you had it "that" far for Cotto

    I had it:
    Cotto - 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11
    Shane - 2, 7, 9, 10, 12
    Even - 3 (though presumably Shane's rounds)

He knew he was beaten. He nodded his head, as much out of reflex when the scores were read. He knew he was beat tonight. And he looked it.....he sagged repeatedly during the fight, trudged to his corner at the end of rounds, had busted cheeks and a swollen ear. He lost closely, but lost. My commentary was by Wally Matthews and he said that Mosleys encouraging moments only discouraged him, as everytime Mosley did something good, Cotto would nail him right back.

PS...Cotto answered some chin questions but he is far from Granite. Just my 0.02.

I'm neither a fan nor a hater of either one of these guys. But you have a long history of Cotto cum drinking. It was a close fight, theres no way Cotto was a CLEAR winner.

Let me ask a question...did Cotto win the 9th round? (the round he was hurt to the body and the ref seperated them).

I'm talking to someone who had Cotto winning 8-4 and scored the 9th and 12th for Cotto.

    Thoughts?

X, all due respect as you're the long time e-homie, but why do you (and puerto rock) keep harping on this? This isn't mythical matchups, it's real fights. Besides, what top fighters did Shane whip on during his prime?

I can see a prime Shane beating today's prime version of Cotto, but to consider it a wash - I don't know, you sound like you're offended by the outcome.

    Cotto - 1, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11
    Shane - 3, 7, 10, 12
    Even - 2

So we had one different round even...and we differ on the 9th round.

    Peace.

yeah, I think Shane realized that he went all out training for this one, and that he won't ever do any better against him. The way he was talking during the post-fight, I was waiting for him to come out and announce his retirement

No doubt he is. The reaction to my scorecard, the thread about a Mosley from 2000 wiping out Cotto...

He may have picked Miguel, but the heart was with Shane all the way.

    So was Musze's.

No shame in that at all...as long as things don't begin getting personal.

    :dunno:

A good decision. Cotto won and he did it in a way nobody would predict. He became Mosley and outboxed Mosley.... Weird.

Mosley is a stand up guy and a class act though.

Offended no. I dont mind at all Cotto's victory. It bodes well for the future seeing as though he's the younger fighter. I'm just speaking my opinion. A young Shane IMO woulda either stopped Miguel, or won a VERY clear decision.

thinking back, the 9th was somewhat debatable I guess, but no way in hell Cotto won the 12th. No way.

    That's absolutely ridiculous.

    Sorry.

If you scored this for Cotto, you probably had Casamayor 117-111.

close fight that could have gone either way in my opinion.

I thought Shane closed the show better backing up Cotto. Cotto claiming he had the fight won and taking the foot of the pedal is the dumbest attitude for a fight this close. Especially in the 12th round.

I didn't score the fight to claim who won the fight. I do know it was close enough and Shane closing better I though he would get the W

 No he wouldn't. Shane is very easy to hit and Cotto is an offensive juggernaut.

Cotto's defense improved considerably tonight. I just don't know how much I like him boxing, even though he was winning rounds. If he does try that shit against Mayweather.... welll I guess its not prudent to look that far ahead.

To me Shane's reaction sounded more like even if he thought he won they gave Cotto the W and they would again.

Mosley of 2000 most only be the DLH fight..cause he didn't look so hot against Rivera even though it was his first fight at the division...and won by ko...:dunno: other than dlh..it was the black guy who got brutally ko'ed stones?..and the white australian guy taylor?

Ok but fair is fair... the only person who can talk is the one who predicted Shane would be outboxed by Cotto in the later rounds..... i doubt anyone said as much! If they did they alone get to serve crow pie. This was a close fight and unexpected in the way it played out from round 9 onward.

Facially and physically, he resembled Archie Moore in the latter stages of the Marciano fight. Sagging, battered featues, receeding hairline, greying hair, the forlorn expression of a fighter who knows he is losing, is being hurt continuously...and who knows his best moments for that night have passed him by. The epitome of a beaten man. At one point he threw a jab at Cotto and fell on his own ass, a sure sign of tired legs out of place. But I am still trying to figure out why Cotto backed off.:dunno:

Not in rounds 10-12 tonight he wasn't........at times Cotto looked a little bit confussed as to what he should do next.:nono: :nono: :nono: And he plain danced away that 12th.

I´d love to see Cotto/Margarito. Margarito might pull it off. Are there really any other options with the current relationship between Mayweather and Arum? Cintron and Williams are fighting each other and Oscar would rather dress like a streethooker before he´d step in a ring with Cotto.

Ron I can't hear your post with all the traffic noise! Seriously you are a professional man....LOOK AT THE BOARD!! usually the majority here get it right and I maintain that this was not a close one, hard one to pick. I think Shane did well but if you look at the fight up until the 9th it played out as MOST PEOPLE here expected it too. Christ even Double L called this one. :notallthere:
