He Can RIGHT NOW.... But Kanye will have MUCH More LONGEVITY in the Game, so he'll Eventually SURPASS Fiddy in Earnings, in REED's Opinion... REED
What the poll also tells us (so far): 68% of you are Roy fans, 32% are not 40% of you are Floyd fans, 60% are not it is suggested that 40% of you see them as equivalent and 60% don't What can I say....I'm an analyst by trade! ::
:: .....the fucks that got to do with anything? They resemble IMO. What's so presumptious about that?
It's possible... "However" Hot producers come and go...few have longevity. There was a day when EVERYONE wanted to work with Teddy Riley. Have you heard anything from him lately? :dunno:
Floyd is a great fighter in his era and I have much respect for his talent. But IMHO, he doesn't even come close to the brilliance that was Roy Jones Jr. in his prime.:nono: Floyd is in his prime right now. Yet he fights like Roy does now, way past his prime. Safety first, pop-a-shot to win against the likes of Carlos Baldomir.
well, your opinion became irrelevant the moment you said it (much less repeated it). they resemble each other only in a way that any two lean white guys would resemble one another. it's like saying Floyd resembles a smaller version of Roy.
 Please tell me you're not trying to turn this into a "slystaff is racist, all white boys look the same to him" type of shit... PLEASE tell The Sly you're not going there.
teddy riley was shit, though, and if anything ruined (or at least detracted from) any group he attached himself to in any capacity beyond producer. On a smaller scale, he was basically the Puffy of New Jack Swing Kanye at least has talent.
i'm not going anywhere. just asking where's the resemblance, besides them both being tall, white and muscular. but anyway, answer in the other thread. don't want to ruin this one ::
Same square jaw and chilseled good looks. They're not identical..not saying that, but there's a resemblance IMO. All these types of things are subjective anyway...you may not see it and neither may anyone else...but that's fine...doesn't mean I'm saying "all white boys look the same" or some shit. :nono:
I don't follow instructions, I give them! :warning: You already ruined the thread with that shit...don't blame me.:tease:
well to steer it back on course, here's what i find odd... It's funny that some try to lump together Roy and Floyd in a negative fashion, because at one point, Roy generated hella appeal throughout the industry. He was P4P best, his fights were fun to watch, and he was a natural behind the mic. HBO loved backing him, whereas it seems like they've reluctantly done so for Floyd. There's a little bit of truth to the claim that they both act as if they're entitled to all that they get and then some. But the difference is, Roy had it all, but seemingly grew bored with it, and settled for reputation rather than maintaining, whereas Floyd almost always acted as if it's him and then it's everyone else. But anyway, before Roy got it in his head that people were tired of seeing him knock everyone out (among the dumbest things he's ever come up with in justifying his lack of entertainment in the early 00's), it was easy to rally behind him. That was the Roy Jones I was a huge fan of. "Like I said before", I've always appreciated Floyd as a fighter, but there's nothing to him beyond that, other than going out of his way to being a prick, and his fights aren't exciting enough to pick up Roy's old fans by default. Cotto's running into the same situation, even if for different reasons. His fights are exciting, and he's gaining support with each fight, but because he'll NEVER have Trinidad's charisma, he'll also never have his fan base.
See this illustrates to me that people are a fan of personalities more than they are talents. I tend to be a fan of the talent. If it were down to personalities and the way they conduct themselves then Mickey Ward would likely be one of my favourite fighters of all time. I don't particularly like Floyd, he's a little silly etc....but I couldn't care lessa bout that. It's the GENIUS that I like. And it's the GENIUS that I liked about Roy. Personalities etc are secondary to me when it comes to being a fan of boxing. I'm not trying to make friends with the guys!
But it's also the way they fight. From 1989 through the Ruiz fight, almost all of Roy's fights/wins were dominant. But as they became less exciting/entertaining, I became less of a fan. Just about all of Floyd's fights are dominant, but they've (or at least the ones that mean something) have become far less entertaining/exciting in recent years, particularly his last two fights. His "problem" is that he settles for a decision win rather than fighting to close the show. Part of it is frequent hand injuries, part is moving up in weight, therefore giving away size and strength advantage. But excitement and entertainment isn't (or shouldn't be) graded on a curve. But yes, personality does play a part, especially when it parlays into how they fight. Floyd's is vacant, and he also has the mentality that he's winning, and fuck you if you don't like it. He's right, he's still undefeated and goes into a higher tax bracket with each fight. But it doesn't mean that people have to like it. But to counter your claim - where do you stand on Miguel Cotto? Isn't your biggest complaint about him the fact that he's devoid of personality?
Yeah, he annoys me...but like I said before, I knida want him to beat Shane in some senses because a Cotto win IMO is better for boxing. But Cotto doesn't have spectacular talent like a Floyd or Roy and so wehther I like him or not is irrelevant.
teddy riley was good at assembling talent but piss poor at keeping it. guy was the shit and blackstreet had their moments too but teddy fucked it all up...
You kinda want him to beat a guy you can't stand,no matter how hard you try to sell it otherwise. Let's not pretend it being better for boxing has anything to do with it :: Though, if politics carry over through next year, a Shane and Floyd win would actually be better for boxing since for the moment, Arum and Floyd both insist that they will never again work with each other. Money obviously changes everything, but I don't see Arum emptying the vault just to have Floyd beat his guy, which would be the only way the fight happens (unless Floyd's alleged promotional company becomes yet another subsidiary of Golden Planet Hollywood Mafia). But spectacular talent is why Roy and Floyd are your favorites. I'm talking about being a fan of fighters in general. I enjoy watching Cotto fight, but I admit, I'm indifferent to his career as a whole. Hell, same with Shane for that matter.
why do i have to be either a fan or not a fan put in an option of 'non-bias boxing fan' and i'll vote
