the difference in other sports, though, is that you generally see your favorite athlete on a regular basis - football, every week from Sept to Dec (Jan, if he's on a team good enough to make the playoffs), baseball and basketball, througout the week, every week for a 6-7 month stretch.

anyway, somewhere along the line, a point was missed. I don't root for fighters just because they're nice guys (Chico had mad issues outside the ring, Gatti was hardly a model citizen, etc.), but whatever. Read into it however you want
