This is hard on Hearns as Jones' prime was well over Tommy's weightclass but I think Jones wins.

Hearns was an awesome, awesome boxer but I think prime Jones takes him. Probably by KO. Too strong.

The more I think about it, this fight is a pick em. It depends more on whether Jones could take a flush Hearns right which WOULD land at least once in this fight.

If it Comes Down to a Battle of CHINS, Roy WINS...Roy's Chin WASN'T as Bad as Some of his POST-Prime Performances Make it Look...

    really?

by your own admission Roy almost never got hit. Exactly when did he take the kind of punch that would showcase a good chin?

I don't think Hearns' chin was as bad as it's made out to be and Roy's almost certainly isn't.

To say Roy never took a flush shot until Tarver is as ridiculous as saying LL only got hit flush twice in his career and was KO'd both times.

really...did Riddick Bowe outbox Golota..feint him to the ropes at will?
was Bowe winning the fight at the time of the stoppage?

against Leonard i'm sure Roy would want to foul and cheat to get out of there too:atu:

    Jaws?

I did say Roy fought like a man and I didn't think he would go through with it. I did eat crow ask Royp4p. He remembers. Ruiz is still awful and he was not the real heavyweight champion. Sorry, you used to call him Johnny Louse, is that better.

    Ruiz is awful.

I like how people try to count that loss as if it were not a loss. Roy was being challenged for the first time and he lost his head. He tried to get out of the fight anyway he could and he hit Montell in a cowardly fashion. If Mike Tyson did the same thing, you'd have Atlas and Merchant crying he is a bully.

When Roy did it, it was a "mistake."It is a legitimate loss. He was probably ahead at that point, but he had looked like shit the first part of the fight.

:notallthere: what...i'll make this simple for you

Roy was schooled by Griffin and desperately fouled to try to end the fight....Griffin just had to feint and Jones would back into the ropes and cover up..the success that jones had in the fight was thanks to griffen's china chin

a better boxer than Griffin, with a better chin, and better punch, and good at feinting...like, let's say Leonard..or Duran...would also school Jones

in addition to this, Leonard never lost to a guy like Griffin

now, can you understand that? :warning:

If Roy "Desperately Fouled to End the Fight", WHY Didn't he Foul Griffin After Dropping him in Round 7???...Why Wait til Round 9 if U "Desperately" Want OUT of the Fight???...If Griffin "Schooled" Roy the 1st Time, why Couldn't he even REMOTELY Replicate that in the RE???...

Roy Jones NEVER Got Dropped by a Guy like Kevin Howard or MASSACRED by a SKIRT Wearer like Camacho Either...

No. They were exciting. I didn't ask for a racial profiling. I asked if he was a talented fighter?

the opportunity didn't arise in the 7th

in the rematch Jones went after Griffen's china chin....or don't you understand what took place in the rematch?

so which way would Roy fight Duran or Leonard? like he fought Griffin in the first fight, or the rematch? would he get outboxed, or brawl and get KO'd?

    Why DIDN'T It???...

YOU'RE Saying Roy BLATANTLY Hit Griffin while on the Ground (in the 9th) to GET OUT of the Fight...Well, he ALSO Dropped Griffin in the 7th...So if WHAT U Say is TRUE, WHY Didn't Roy Take the Opportunity THEN???...If Roy WANTED OUT like U're Suggesting, he'd have Taken ANY Opportunity to Get Out of the Fight, Right???...

That's what Makes your Supposition FAULTY @ Best & a Crock of SHIT @ Worst...

Roy Jones Could EASILY Replicate the Approach that Leonard Took in the RE w/Duran...EASILY...It's NOT Like Leonard Did Anything Remotely Special that Night...Also, if REED"s Not Mistaken, Dejesus TWICE Dropped Duran w/Left Hooks (& that was Roy's BEST Punch), So there's a VERY GOOD Chance of Roy Having SUCCESS w/that Shot...

This poll does prove one thing for sure, there are at least 15 retards on this site. If Sugar Ray fought Davey Boy Green types his entire career, he'd be considered just as talented as Jones because, well, he looked flawless in that fight! But Sugar decided to fight legends and tough fights instead so naturally he didn't always look as good as Jones who opted to fight most of the employees of city hall instead.

would you pick leonard to defeat jones jr at middleweight?

Im always reading people saying how Mayweather jr couldnt fuck with Leonard at welterweight. How would the great Ray Leonard do against a talented fighter who happens to be naturally bigger?

    Wrong logic.

Yes, I think Jones looked better against solid (not great) opponents than Leonard ever. There is not much into it, but I'd give Jones the edge. The fact that Jones never fought the likes of Hearns and Hagler is not a proof that he could not have beaten them. It means that historically Leonard must rank higher, but who was the better prime for prime, that still is a guessing game

and why would Jones do that? change his style and be scared of the smaller fighter? :atu: nope, highly unlikely

the more likely approach is that he fight like he always does...in which case Duran replicates what Griffin did...EASILY...except his chin doesn't fail him and he'll hit harder...It's NOT Like Griffin Did Anything Remotely Special that Night
